ford lost billions of dollars of market value, this 240 million dollars will only be a drop on a hot plate.

.... and told owners to under inflate the tires on their SUVs to give em better grip ...... that went along way to causing the tire problems.

.... lower profile ..... less tippy ..... the tires had some fault but they were not the chief cause.
I met a retired tire engineer in Akron ..... when you tell people to under inflate their tires ..... they will fail ..... ford told the owners of SUV to do just that.
