Scalia turns journalists away from speech
-snip-
Back in Washington, however, journalists were turned away from his speech to life insurance executives and Scalia talked about gossip-seeking reporters during a court argument about free speech rights. A court spokeswoman said the speech should have been open to some reporters.

Scalia, the court's most outspoken and colorful member, is well known for his animosity toward cameras and run-ins with reporters.

"He doesn't seem to be very fond of them," said Dennis Hutchinson, a law professor at the University of Chicago.

On Tuesday, the court said Scalia did not want media coverage of his remarks to the American Council of Life Insurers, according to the group. The trade association for the life insurance industry had promoted the luncheon speech at its annual conference in a press release and made arrangements for reporters to attend.

2. Gotta agree
This is one story about which there hasn't been much ink--or electrons. Why was Scalia "passed over" for this job?
Just last year, there were many people speculating he'd be the next CJ nominee. With him missing the ceremony for Roberts...all I can say is "h'mmmmmm"

3. "It was a misunderstanding."
He didn't mean to exclude all press (for the second time)
says a Supreme Court spokeswoman.

Sure it was. :eyes:

16. I nearly vomitted when I thought about that.
That would be gross. I can just imagine that fat, hairy bastard asking Ginsburg and the others out to an orgy.

6. Did he talk about how he finds orgies relaxing again?
It's not like Tony's a private figure. If he wants to talk about his philosophy of public sex without press coverage, he can always quit the Supreme Court, and drop his pants infront of audiences and no one will pay any attention.:dilemma: :grouphug: :pals:

the American Council of Life Insurers that cannot be heard by the public.

Don't ever think Scalia works inside the law. He does what he wants, when he wants to.

18. freedom of speech and freedom of the press, eh Scalia?
Edited on Thu Oct-13-05 01:42 PM by LatinoSocialist
How's that for irony. A man tasked to protect our most sacred rights of free speech and free press, acting regularly like a Third World tyrant and restricting the press from his speeches.

What's he got to hide?

20. Why doesn't some student secretly tape his speeches
and release it on the web.

If the ass won't allow the press, the press will force themselves inside.
