White House: Iraq vote would defy insurgency

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Whether Iraqis vote for or against the new constitution, the act of casting a ballot will push democracy forward and defy the insurgency, the White House said on Friday.

"The Iraqi people time and time again defied the terrorists," White House spokesman Scott McClellan said.

The White House sees the referendum on a new constitution as an historic milestone and evidence that political progress is being made since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003.

2. get ready for the purple fingers...
at this point they are looking for anything to change public opinion. And staged interviews with US soldiers isn't helping.

6. wasn't the old meme that passing the Constitution was necessary?
now just voting on it is a success, even if it is widely rejected.

I think I know why these assholes are floundering so badly... they've lowered the bar so far that they keep tripping over it.

16. Notice? They always push the goal posts
further down the road. It's always a NEW event that will change everything. Now, we can look forward to the Iraqi constitution. When that fails, there will be some NEW event, like a White House built in Baghdad that will fix everything.

When that fails, there will be a new idea: Maybe an Iraqi Jefferson or Franklin. We can look forward to that.

Stupid idiot, every last one of them.\

7. Yet another meaningless benchmark

That will be celebrated incessantly for the next two weeks, with imbeciles in Congress making various symbolic gestures.

And the insurgency will go on and on and on. The administration's symbols have it the wall of the real.

The insurgency only has one symbol, one slogan:

Welcome to the Desert of the Real

9. The Iraqi people one reason for voting
They want us to leave. Most articles I've read, written by people in Iraqi, state the Iraqi's are going through the motions with these elections. The elections are face saving stunts for the "Coalition of the Willing" (GW Bush). Once Bush can convince the world that he created a thriving democracy in Iraq, then our troops will leave.

11. Blue finger
HOW THEY VOTE: Voters will mark paper ballots either for or against ratification. Officials will mark each voter's finger with indelible blue ink to prevent double-voting.

12. The tables have turned
Once upon a time, the 'insurgents' were defying us. Now, we have to figure out ways to defy them.

I guess we know who wears the pants in this war.

13. Yup
They best us at every turn. Well, we are the agressors in this war. Those people fighting against us are freedom fighters and we're on the wrong side once again. I hate that we always seem to find ourselves on the wrong side of conflicts. You would think our getting our butts kicked (2,000 dead) would eventually cause the sheeple back here in the states to wake up and do something to stop this criminal war. We deserve everything we get if we don't stand up and do something RIGHT NOW.

15. I'm sure that will stop those "insurgents"....
from defending their country.....
Oh and my favorite still is Bush to veto the Anti-Torture Bill...
I mean, didn't we INVADE Iraq because of Saddam's torturing?

How much longer must Americans have to deal with this stupidity?
ARGH!
