(New Australian) Terrorist laws to lock up objectors (up to SEVEN YEARS)
Supporting the insurgency in Iraq, Afghanistan or any country where Australian troops are deployed could carry a penalty of seven years' jail under the Prime Minister's new terrorism laws.

The changes also allow for control orders of unlimited duration, secret preventive detention, the monitoring of lawyers, and life imprisonment for funding terrorist organisations.

The draft legislation, disclosed by by Greens yesterday, details the far-reaching security regime proposed by John Howard for "very dangerous and difficult and threatening circumstances" in the wake of the London bombings.

New sedition offences will put big constraints on anti-war protests, familiar since the Vietnam era, and come down hard on those advocating violence against any religious, national or political group

6. Craphole?
I always knew you were a child molester. Of course I don't really know that, but I've read that there are lots of child molesters where you're from, so I'm just painting you with that brush.

7. Try some manners, please.
The Australians here are supporting you in your efforts to improve America. We know your country has problems but wouldn't dream of insulting it by calling it a craphole. If we're going to feel free to let you guys know what's going on here without hiding it beind "patriotic" bullshit, we need a return of the same empathy we give you, not insultingly naive generalisations.

If I'm puking right back at ya, should I say re:puke: ?

2. Welcome to the Police State down under
Really, the only way to respond to this type of malarkey is with widespread civil disobedience, up to and including hunger strikes by those incarcerated.

4. Some would consider Bush a terrorist
And I'd be one of them. Wonder who gets to choose who's a terrorist and who isn't? I'm really surprised that Australians agreed to these kind of crazy laws. Or did it get forced on them like our so called "patriot act"?

5. I sure didn't get a choice.
The liberal gov't (which in Australia now means Neocon)has complete control of both houses of parliament now and can do whatever they want.

Australians voted for them because the opposition was thoroughly spineless, echoing the Lib's right-wing policies and lying down saying "please kick me". And of course the Howard gov't lied themselves silly, frightening everyone with threats of terror and high interest rates.

Now Johnny is doing everything he can to be named Bush's favourite gerbil.
