Bush Sought Miers' Expertise for Lawsuit
ATHENS, Texas (AP) -

The critical evidence in the case was out of the ordinary - golf scorecards and testimony about alligators and a broken water well. One of the defendants was unusual, too: a candidate for governor of Texas, George W. Bush.

When the caretaker at Bush's private fishing resort sued Bush and six other members in 1994, claiming he was wrongfully fired after being injured on the job, Bush turned to a prominent Dallas lawyer, Harriet Miers.

Miers won the case, helping cement a relationship that took her to Washington after Bush was elected president. She served as White House secretary and counsel and now is a nominee for the Supreme Court.

3. Wow that article took extra steps to get around 2 important facts about W
1. He didn't live in Crawford. That isn't news to us but it is to many people.

2. He got special property tax privileges.

5. Good catch. And another item that speaks to Bush's personal MO:
Says he spoke up for the guy at the private club's meeting on the matter, but left before they voted to fire him. His personal ethics are as full of holes as swiss cheese.

How prescient, as well, that a "recreation sanctuary" designation(which I read to mean something like a natural reserve) was used as a tax loophole for the private club property..echoes his take on the environment to a T.

6. Yeah he does only so much but doesn't quite finish
I doubt seriously if he even went to the damned meeting.

On thing though- the house at the pig farm he over bought in Crawford is solar powered and very earth friendly in construction.*

*I read that somewhere and it was a somewhere that you wouldn't normally see anything positive about Bush either.
