Reid, local business, labor leaders push for immigration reform
LAS VEGAS (AP) - Senate minority leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and local labor and business leaders on Thursday lined up behind federal legislation to create a guest-worker program for undocumented immigrants.

Reid and representatives from the Culinary Union, the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce and casino giant MGM Mirage Inc. said they agreed on several principles of reform, including a worker program that requires undocumented immigrants to register with the government but also increases the number of immigrants allowed to enter the country legally on work visas.

The group also agreed that immigrants who "work hard, pay taxes, learn English and play by the rules" should be able to earn legal residency over time, according to a statement.
