Janklow Asks Court to Restore Law License

Janklow Asks Court to Restore Law License

By Associated Press
October 14, 2005, 4:18 PM EDT

PIERRE, S.D. -- Former Rep. Bill Janklow, still on probation for a fatal car crash, said Friday he was sorry and asked the state Supreme Court to restore his law license.

Janklow, who also was a four-term governor, said his manslaughter conviction for the 2003 crash did not affect his ability to be a lawyer and he wants to serve the public again.

The State Bar recommended his law license be restored on Feb. 15. If the court agrees, the former congressman could resume practicing law about a year before his probation ends. Janklow asked for reinstatement immediately, but the court's decision will be issued later.
(snip)

Janklow's law license was automatically suspended after he was convicted in December 2003 for the death of Randy Scott, 55, of Hardwick, Minn., whose motorcycle collided with the car Janklow was driving near Trent.

10. What a pompous ass!
And the Native Americans have not been "all that fond" (understated!) of "Wild Bill" Janklow for DECADES!

We'll take his loss of a stranglehold of South Dakota politics in any way we can get it.

Finally Justice for this EVIL MAN!

2. The rest of the story...
Janklow's second-degree manslaughter conviction will be erased if he complies with the terms of his three-year probation. He also served 100 days in jail.

:wtf:

3. I would DENY him.
If i was the justice in question.

And tell him to go back to prison to serve another 10 years for MURDER instead of MANSLAUGHTER.

12. Erased?
Does the average person who's convicted of even a non-violent crime have their criminal records erased?

7. "Hey, I'm really sorry about decades of shitty, reckless driving!"
"I'm really sorry about the guy I killed because I was speeding (again) but this time ran a stop sign at the same time."

"I'm really sorry about having the State Police look the other way and let me off with warnings and tear up tickets for my four terms as governor."

"I'm really sorry about the bullshit defense I tried to mount in my criminal trial about having low blood sugar or going into a diabetic coma or whatever it was as an excuse for killing this guy."

"Really, I'm truly sorry. Can I be a lawyer again?"

The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) has been fighting to get tougher laws passed. May 30, 2004, A Young unlicensed driver crossed a centerline on a New Mexico highway and killed two motorcyclist and maimed their passengers. The judge let him off with a $125.00 fine, $110.00 court cost. WTF! The AMA has a program called the "Justice For All" campaign. for more info AMADirectlink.com

and that he suffers terrible financial problems and he becomes homeless and finds what it means to feel sorry because he will really know what it means to suffer.

17. Hell fucking no!
Do NOT give this "man" back his law license, ever again! And as for his claims of being a "friend" to native americans in his state-BULLSHIT! So, he worked at legal aid on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation where most of his clients were Indians. So what, that was nearly forty years ago, and he learned nothing from it. He was extremely hostile to Indians all throughout his entire governorship, supporting policies that were very detrimental to them, denigrating them publicly, revising and distorting the history of their treatment, etc., etc. A very vile man who should just slink back under the rock in the cave he came from.

19. There's an issue of moral turpitude here
It would be one thing if this was his first offense, but the man has a long history of flauting the law- which eventually resulted in a tragedy.

It's his utter lack of respect for the law- not this particular event- that should result in him losing his license.
