Idaho senator (Larry Craig - R) says fraud part of La. culture
WASHINGTON -- A U.S. senator from Idaho is the latest to slam Louisiana's reputation for political corruption as Congress considers whether to spend billions of dollars on hurricane recovery.

Sen. Larry Craig, a Republican, told his home state constituents that fraud is as much a part of the fabric of Louisiana as it is in Iraq and that flooded sections of New Orleans should be abandoned.

"Fraud is in the culture of Iraqis. I believe that is true in the state of Louisiana as well," Craig was quoted as saying Thursday in the Lewiston (Idaho) Morning Tribune.

The McCall (Idaho) Star News, quoted him saying "Louisiana and New Orleans are the most corrupt governments in our country and they always have been. . . . A rookie cop in New Orleans, they pay him or her $17,000 starting pay and then wink and say you better make the rest of it on the street."

"Racism is in the culture of Nazi Germans. I believe that is true in the state of Idaho as well," I am quoted as saying right frickin' now.

No offense to blue Ida-Hos, but geez, it sure does attract the RAHOWA types.

30. Speaking of racism...
some of the most racist statements I've heard lately are from people moving here from California....talking about they don't want to be around "those gawddamned Mexicans anymore." And they move here!? Spack dab in the midst of a considerable Hispanic population. Oh -- too late now.

3. Craig knows all about corruption
Larry Craig
Here's one more example of how Republican warmongers support the war, but don't support the troops. Senator Larry Craig of Idaho has blocked the promotions of 850 officers in the U.S. Air Force. According to the New York Times, the promotions were denied to officers at all levels, including young pilots who fought in Iraq and even a general. So what, exactly, did these officers do to deserve such treatment? Absolutely nothing. You see, Senator Craig is having a hissy fit because the Air Force won't station four cargo planes at an Air National Guard base in Boise. Apparently, Craig thought that "supporting the troops" included "using them as pawns in petty power trips." Blackmail: it's the Republican way.

Furthermore, I think Craig's comments are in the same league with Bill Bennett's. There won't be the same scrutiny because Larry Craig is a nobody. Hard to be that and a US Senator at the same time. It's hard work!

9. I hate to say it but he is right on the corrupt governments in La.
For example....

Only in La would the Gov. go to Nevada to gamble and walk away from the blackjack table with something like $400,000 in "winnings" and then pick the owners of the casino to run the only NOLA casino.

and the winner of any election is based on not the number of living voters that vote for you but the number of dead ones.

But Craig is still a slime ball.

15. I think Senator Landrieu's so fab
She always points out the hypocrisy of the Republican's, it's just a shame that more people don't listen to what she's saying.

I'm fine with the corruption in Louisiana politics, because at least the Louisiana politicians are helping out the poor and vulnerable and doing right by them...unlike the GOP who if they could get away with it would just have them all gassed and burnt.

As long as the people get a chicken in every pot each week, they'll overlook that their politicians are taking money under the table.

At least over 100,000 people haven't died because of Louisiana's corruption...unlike the over 100,000 people who HAVE died because of the GOP's corruption AND lies - September 11, Afghanistan and Iraq death tolls.

Writing off Western and Southern states over the last 30 years is how the Dems got into this pickle in the first place.

I'm in liberal Portland, by the way, home of Volksfront.

I like Idaho, they deserve better than this. My future son-in-law is from Boise, he and his friends and family are liberal.

You're right about the Aryan Nations, they're up in the Panhandle.

Aryans, Interrupted
The Aryan Nations, long a top neo-Nazi group, is homeless, split, accused of blackmail, and in jeopardy of irrelevance.

Last October, leaders of the neo-Nazi Aryan Nations, the famous Idaho hate group whose founder was forced to sell its headquarters compound after being ordered to pay millions of dollars in damages, announced that they were about to release a brand new videotape.

The title of their new film? "Out of the Ashes."

It was an upbeat name, to be sure. But six months after the announcement by Harold Ray Redfeairn and August Kreis, there is no videotape. The audiotape that was supposed to accompany it hasn't been produced, either.

In fact, the hoped-for renaissance of the group whose members rained death and destruction on northern Idaho for more than a quarter of a century seems more dubious than ever.

The compound that long served as the group's home is gone, sold off to satisfy creditors in a lawsuit.

29. I always find it interesting how little others
know about states from which they're not from nor have visited and yet gulp the bullshit crap spewed from the MSM regarding anything and anyone.

Like someone above said, The Aryan Nations hasn't been since losing a court battle along with their property. Goggle it; I'm tired of pointing it out.

Idaho is just flyover territory to me. The Democratic Party should be very honest and admit that it has nothing to say and nothing to offer to the state of Idaho.

This is no different from statements I've read at the freeper's site.

As far as racism....racism is part of this COUNTRY's culture.

When the democrats can show how they will benefit those who work their asses off for a living, then we'll win them over. The likes of Craig & Butch Otter win here because of other issues: right to privacy - invasion from 'big gov't', financial conservatism (which most people attempt to practice as it's called living within your means). People move here thinking they'll be safe from whatever they left not realizing they're part of the problem to begin with.

"The Kootenai County Task Force on Human Relations was founded in 1981 as a response group against the harassment and criminal activities of the Aryan white supremacy movement located north of Hayden Lake, a community in Kootenai County, Idaho. The Task Force has been instrumental in directing the passage of major Idaho legislation giving the state strong laws against harassment."

"Idaho's anti-malicious harassment laws are recognized as some of the toughest in the nation. Various officials have been invited by communities throughout the U.S. to help train others about Idaho's "zero tolerance" methods for dealing with extremist behavior.
The Idaho Human Rights Commission was created in 1969. Today, Idaho has 114 human rights groups located in 25 cities throughout the state. These groups far outnumber extremist groups and provide local communities with information about discrimination and the law as well as technical assistance to help parties resolve disputes peacefully."

I've encountered a lot of four legged pigs in my life, and there wasn't ONE of them insane enough to support a Republican - a rather non-political species all around. I think it's the human company he's been keeping. Spend enough time immersing oneself in a belief system, and thoses neo-con nannites invade your brain and you're a goner...........But it ain't the pigs' fault.

There's corruption everywhere. Some places, it's worse, but there are people here who badly need help, who are good, decent people. The Republicans are merely using this as an excuse to screw a state that has no electoral votes and is against their conservative philosophy of how to live one's life. Other states never have to beg for money.

It's bad enough that I am seriously considering leaving the country.

He's an ag/corporatist who favors open immigration for his big business donors against the will of the Idaho people.

Craig is a power hungry arrogant asswipe sociopath:

Senator Frees Some USAF Promotions

June 12, 2003

<snip>
Craig put the holds on the Air Force promotions nearly three weeks ago and vowed to stall them until the Air Force honors a commitment to add four C-130 transport planes to complete a squadron at Gowen Air National Guard Base in Boise.

<snip>
Even officials in Idaho are puzzled by Craig's actions; the cargo planes have not been a major issue there.

"It's not something people here are tapping their fingers over, waiting for them to show up," Lt. Col. Tim Marsano, a spokesman for the Idaho National Guard, told the Times.

AND

How about this...like this bill is FOR American citizens...it's for the neocons...makesw me wonder what Craig is after in the long run re: politics

Helms-Craig Bill Protects US Citizens From International Court

<snip>
This bill protects all American citizens as well as all American citizens from indictment, prosecution or extradition by an international criminal court. Craig says this bill is necessary, because even if the United States does not ratify the treaty, it could fall under the jurisdiction of the ICC. Craig says the court represents the largest power grab made by the United Nations in years. ADM's generous spreading of financial manure has, in fact, proven to be the best investment in town. The government's ethanol subsidy -- of which ADM is the single largest recipient -- is estimated to have cost the taxpayer $7 billion so far. And now, three top ADM executives have been found guilty of defrauding the consumer as well.

here take a look at his stand on previous major issues:

Vote to consider establishing a policy requiring the deployment of a national missile defense system by the end of 2003. The bill would also urge discussions with Russia to amend the ABM Treaty to allow deployment of the system.
