Grandmothers Arrested at Iraq War Protest
NEW YORK (AP) - Eighteen antiwar grandmothers were arrested and face disorderly conduct charges after they showed up at a military recruiting center in Times Square and said they wanted to enlist, a protest group said.

Police arrested the women, ranging in age from 49 to 90, after they sat down Monday in front of the recruiting station to protest the war in Iraq, police said.

When the women, including Marie Runyon, who is 90 and blind, tried to enter the station, they found it locked, said Joan Wile, 74, director of Grandmothers against the War.

35 years a librarian, and as liberal a person as I have ever known.

She was there in spirit.

7. I love librarians.
Worked in one as a teen, they were great people.

May she rest in peace. A GOOD long life, it sounds like.

I think about it this way: she did her job well -- her life, that is -- and was saved from having to suffer through 9-11, through most of the misery that has been the Bush pResidency.

11. they knocked and rang the door bell.
The first tried to enter the door of a public recuriting office.

Gee, very disorderly conduct.

- If you're against people having the right to enter public buildings and knock on a door that is.
