Senate Nixes Boost in Heating Assistance
population control anyone? kill a few of the poor and elderly off this winter a boost for the national economy?

WASHINGTON (AP) - For the second time this month, the Senate voted against putting more money into a program that helps low-income families meet home heating costs.

Senators who opposed the $3.1 billion in emergency money for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program said the aid would be dealt with as part of a larger emergency spending bill that Congress probably will consider soon.

But advocates said that with the weather turning cold in northern states and energy prices soaring, there was no time to delay. Many families, said Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I., a sponsor of the measure, face a stark choice - "to heat or to eat."

22. You asked:
Don't these right-wing fuckers CARE?

My answer: NO. Pure and simple. NO.

Too bad I don't believe in Hell, as that is where these fucks belong.

5. We are now reaching the stage....
where the GOP "big middle-finger" principle of government is starting to hit people in their pocketbooks. Hard. That's usually when people start to take politics seriously, and get real angry.

16. The rethuglicans are bite proof. The poor are numb with disappointment
and despair. Most wealthy indeed don't care about the suffering of humanity. What can the indigent do, spend a few bucks to go to the poll and vote in a fixed election?

4. It's the poor's fault for not stockpiling tanks of explosive oil...
The republicans achieve two things, yes, they weed out the weakest poor, but they also instigate a massive book burning without having to announce it.

13. MAY cut into our profits?
I'd say high energy prices will cut into our revenues. "Profits" is very optimistic at this point.

You wouldn't believe the increase in our shipping charges.

Edited on Thu Oct-20-05 04:24 PM by MaineDem
Especially thank you to Senators Carper and Nelson of Nebraksa who should know better than to vote Nay.

The LIHEAP money in Maine is expected to be no more than $400. A low income person may get that - no more, only once, can't get more - this winter. That's maybe, what, 3/4 of a tank of heating oil?

All the fucking money going to rebuild Trent Lott's front porch and he didn't have the decency to give the low income people in the cold areas some help for the winter!

I am so enraged right now. The elderly and the poor will freeze to death and may their deaths be on the conscience of these vile, disgusting Senators this winter!

Edited to correct typos I didn't notice in my rage.

24. The low income assistance....
... is a windfall for the oil companies anyhow.

The whole damn situation is 3rd World in its implications.

If low income people can't pay the oil companies themselves, the government will pay the oil companies.

I don't know if anybody has mentioned that the states that most heat with oil are blue states in the Northeast. (Yes, I know Iowa heats with oil, too, but the big population is in the Northeast.)

33. Time to whip a little religion on the Repugs
From the book of James to start with.

Jas 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Jas 2:15 Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16: If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? 17: In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. 18: Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.

I like to phrase it a little differently: Going to church does not make you a Christian, anymore than standing in the garage makes you a car. I even heard a minister from Harlem say it this way; You aint getting in unless you have a letter of recomendation from the poor.

Secondly I would like to whip the religion of my country on them, it is the Constitution. We the People....promote the general welfare! Ensure the blessings of liberty. Domestic tranquility. These rat bastard republicans hate us for our freedoms.
