McCain Provides Mirth at Charity Dinner
McCain Provides Mirth at Charity Dinner

Friday October 21, 2005 4:46 AM

By SAM DOLNICK

Associated Press Writer

NEW YORK (AP) - Sen. John McCain said Thursday at the annual Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner that he hasn't decided whether he's running for president, ``so please just stop asking me.''

``Relax and enjoy the evening, Governor Pataki,'' he concluded, to a roar of laughter from the audience at the $1,000-a-plate fundraiser. Gov. George Pataki, too, has been considering a run for the highest office in the land.

Standing on a dais crowded with politicians, the Arizona Republican teased several of them, as well as the monied guests at the event sponsored by the Archdiocese of New York.

``It's like a veritable 'Who's Who' of people soon to be indicted by Eliot Spitzer,'' he said, referring to the state's hard-charging attorney general.

12. I conduct an ethical practice and
I'm being choked to death by all the new paperwork. Get rid of the bad guys, but leave the rest of us alone. Soon, it will take more paperwork to open an investment account than it does to get a mortgage. There is such a thing as overkill.:dilemma:

on edit: my major reason for living is to point out dupes like an annoying nerd who has memorized Robert's Rules of Order. Now I can go to bed happy. :)

4. You know these people don't like it
They being called what they are. McCain will not make many frieds doing this and the corrupt bastards will abandon him.

On second thought, maybe this is McCains way of cleaning up the Republican party, calling them out for the whores and robber barons that they are.

8. Like Powell, McCain has chosen to side with the corrupt even though
their conscience has known it is wrong.

This is different than Cheney/Bush /Rumsfeld/Rice in that they
have no conscience at all.

7. Wonder what the rest of his monologue consisted of?
"Hey, did you hear the one about the war hero who had his patriotism attacked by a chickenhawk? I heard he even had an illegitimate black child. Oh, man, that one was a knee-slapper..."

9. McCain has a history of, um, gaffes as an event speaker
snip>
at a Republican Senate fund-raiser, McCain told a downright nasty joke making fun of Janet Reno, Hillary Rodham Clinton and Chelsea Clinton.....

Salon feels its readers deserve the unadulterated truth. Though no tape of McCain's quip has yet emerged, this is what he reportedly said:

"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly?
Because her father is Janet Reno."

....McCain's two-liner conveys some interesting insights into what he considers humorous (lesbianism, a young woman's physical appearance), particularly since it was delivered to a Republican crowd. Remember, this is the party that champions pro-family values.

11. Which is why he deserves every bit of slime that rains down on him
It's probably why he can hug and slobber all over the people that accused his wife of being a drug addict and having an illegitimate child with a black man...he says the same thing about others and thinks it's A-OK.

13. Ha fucking ha, McCain, you scumbag.
You think it's funny that your rethug party is full of criminals, chickenhawks and incompetents?

It's about as funny as a joke about your imprisonment and tirture by the North Vietnamese.

Fucking idiot sellout asswipe.
