Osama Bin Laden Is Dead And Buried: Multan Newspaper
A Pakistani newspaper Ausaf published from Multan has reported that Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden died four months ago in a village near Kandahar of severe illness.

According to the newspaper report, Bin Laden was campaigning at Bamiyan, fell very ill, returned to Kandahar where he died and was buried in the Shada graveyard in the shadow of a mountain.

The controversy continues to surround Osama bin Laden and while US and Pakistan officials have often been quoted by the media as saying that his mortal status was just a matter of detail, the hunt is still on and the issue remains a topic of great interest for the media and governments alike.

Funeral prayers have been said for Osama bin Laden over these years with one reported now by the Ausaf, and another in an Egyptian newspaper Al Wafd as far back as December 2001.

62. On the contrary
Killing him off now means Bushco can easily close the chapter on Bin Laden with something like.... "Well, we holed him up GUUD in them hills until he just plum died himself.".

Now they can easily erase him from the stage. Without pressure to catch him anymore - there's one less worry.

This below means nothing anymore.

Osama Bin Laden was the best thing that ever happened to them. To have their best boogieman dead is in no way a good thing for them.

"Well, we holed him up GUUD in them hills until he just plum died hisself."

Maybe hisownself.

"Himself" just sounds too literate for this bunch of psychopathic yahoos.

I am surprised that no one "saw him" there..

It really doesn't matter iof he's dead or alive.. He planted the seeds, and the garden is flourishing and re-seeding itself..

Study Reveals Pittsburgh Unprepared For Full-Scale Zombie Attack
October 19, 2005 | Issue 41•42

PITTSBURGH—A zombie-preparedness study, commissioned by Pittsburgh Mayor Tom Murphy and released Monday, indicates that the city could easily succumb to a devastating zombie attack. Insufficient emergency-management-personnel training and poorly conceived undead-defense measures have left the city at great risk for all-out destruction at the hands of the living dead, according to the Zombie Preparedness Institute.

"When it comes to defending ourselves against an army of reanimated human corpses, the officials in charge have fallen asleep at the wheel," Murphy said. "Who's in charge of sweep-and-burn missions to clear out infected areas? Who's going to guard the cemeteries at night? If zombies were to arrive in the city tomorrow, we'd all be roaming the earth in search of human brains by Friday."

They may be using this as an excuse not to hunt for Bin Laden.

BTW, did anyone know Osama's oldest brother was killed in a plane crash in Texas back in 1988? They claim it was an accident. I think that's where the rift between Bin Laden and the US first began.

24. He probably died from kidney failure years ago.
And was probably buried quietly by his family in Saudi Arabia.

The "Osama videos" since 9/11 have all turned out to be bogus. There has been no real evidence of him being alive for years, and he was known to have a mortal kidney condition before 9/11.

The best mythological propaganda enemy is one who no longer actually exists...he can't contradict anything Bush wants to say about him!

Ditto for that "Zarqawi" in Iraq.

32. There has been considerable speculation
That that figure was not Osama. Most of his output has been audiotapes, and at least one scholar has concluded that that audiotapes were produced by one of his sons who sounds remarkable likey Osama

What's the truth? Who knows. It's irrelevant now. The man is a force of nature in the wahabbist world now, alive or dead.

Crazy Cat
Thursday, January 22nd, 2004

My cat Pumpkin is an adorable little creature that weighs about 10lbs, has red/orange/white hair and has his moments. You see my cat fetches. One of those moments includes when he comes traipsing into the living room while Gina and I are watching t.v. with a very curious object in his mouth. He especially likes balled up aluminum foil or as you will see in the picture below, a certain feminine care product.

71. In the South Asia News article,

the last line was, for me, the most interesting:

"Osama bin Laden has a reward of $25 million on his head. Despite this he remains elusive, and could remain that way for a long time, alive or dead."

It really is in both "sides" interests to maintain the ambiguous nature of his actual existence. For Bush, et al., it allows a focus and gives a human face to the the "War on Terror;" we can keep looking for him, quite literally, forever without having to find him. Oh, and we don't have to find him because he is "dead." That, as someone mentioned above,he has a son or sons, one of whom sounds remarkably like him, only makes his continued "existence" more sustainable. Not to trivialize it, but think of him as the Phantom. Quite frankly, Al Zarqawi doesn't have emotional resonance that Bin Laden does. Everyone remembers Spartacus. No one recalls Crixus and Oenamus ( his lieutenants).Actually, as the Roman Empire had a few of these figures that they would scare the populace with. At some point, of course, Bin Laden will be declared "officially" dead when his "life" is no longer useful to whatever administration is in power. By then, though, it really will be too late.

From the other side, the issue is a bit different, but the emotive resonance is the same. In a sense, again think of Spartacus ( whose body, at least in Tacitus, I think was never found). This is a very common pattern, and is a variant on The Sleeping Lord figures. These are the tribal, proto-nationalist figures who will come back in times of need because, in fact, they never died. They are particularly useful as rallying figures against invasion. They arise in a time of cultural crisis, war successfully against "invaders" or "traitors," and their deaths are always ambiguous. The locations of their "graves" are subject to debate, although some areas claim the honor, and the sites sometimes become the equivalent of shrines. Often they are buried on mountains or "in the shadows of mountains." The historical fact of the figures is really not important in light of the mythic resonance. Again, not to trivialize it, but think of Elvis.

What we could be seeing, although it is too early to tell, is the beginning of a mythos.

75. Oh Gee! Forever, some will never believe he's DEAD!
If it's true, why couldn't they have proven it at the time?

77. ... But. Wait. If OBL's dead ... Then. We. Won ?
 I mean, to hear * ... OBL was the only one that needed to be "smoked out" ... so, if he's dead ... and Saddam Hussein's on trial ... doesn't that mean there is no more terra and we can bring the troops home from Afghanistan (uh, yeah - we DO still have troops there) AND Iraq ... ;-)

if you need dialysis and he's hold up in them there caves, who's treating him? And if OBL is found to have died before the 2004 election, then who was on that propitious tape that was made before our vote? OBL has been a very sick man, and I wouldn't doubt that he's dead. And of course, we have the many OBLs. The fat one, the weird nose one, the skinny one. Who's making the videos and how come they appear at propitious times for Bush? That's my question.

80. To borrow a quote from Super Troopers:
"I'll believe that when me shit turns purple and smells like rainbow sherbert!"

I've speculated before that Osama (which could explain why we havent been able to find him in 4 years!) is dead but until they have concrete proof he is, I refuse to believe it.

85. Distraction... distraction... distraction... distraction.. distraction...
I was wondering how long it would take for the BFEE and their overseas propaganda effort to concoct a DISTRACTION story from the impending WH legal problems this week.

I'm looking forward to the upcoming Wednesday or Thursday afternoon "unsubstantiated" terrorist attack claim/scare...
