1. Obviously God is punishing them for supporting Al-Qaeda |
|
You know several people ACTUALLY told me that God was punishing New Orleans with Katrina, because of "the way the people lived there, their lifestyles and the sinful wickedness that they supported."
A TRULY jaw-dropping moment for me THAT was.

3. I KNOW, it's bizarre what these freaks think |
|
And it's scary because they LITERALLY believe what they think.
Suffice to say, I shut them up by saying that my BIGGEST wish is that next year Mardi Gras is on and that Southern Decadence is on...and that on SEVERAL occasions I've personally gone for it on Bare Your Breasts Day! It's fun being open-minded, they DON'T know WHAT they're missing, the damn prudes.

... maybe this time we could leave Poland off the list? Especially seeing how they already endured 50 years of bad times in the last century.
They have lousy foreign policy at the moment. And their troops don't belong in Iraq. But to (even jokingly) wish further ill on them ... perhaps we could give it a rest this time.

We're talking Neo-Con type Fascists here. So, yeah, whilst I acknowledge their obvious past suffering and whilst I abhor what the WWII Poles were put through...the CURRENT generation of Poles are getting no mercy or sympathy from me.
They've made their beds, they'll have to lie in them.
Having said this, I'm not wishing something like an earthquake on them...but for supporting Junior and for electing a bunch of Neo-Con's, at some point they'll get punished with something, JUST like ALL Junior supporters will.

Like I said, their international behavior since finally having the yoke lifted off them is nothing to cheer about. But, I think that period in the last century is still very much influencing what is going on now. I think one of the obvious effects was that for fifty years, any Pole who showed the slightest bit of integrity or other moral backbone was liquidated or removed; conversely, anyone who was willing to sell themselves out was lauded and moved forward. That sort of thing warps a society, and I think in Poland's case, it got warped badly.
Like other nations in eastern Europe, their society was not allowed to evolve normally for fifty years -- thus, their attitudes on many things now seem bizarrely out of sync with current western societal expectations and behavior.
When the Warsaw Pact collapsed, none of the nations in the west realized how out-of-sorts the eastern European nations were. Had the west put energy into helping these countries get on a healthy track, well, I think that would have been far wiser than what the west did, which was to sort of ignore them, hit them economically where possible, and solicit them for military support.
I'm also not comfortable with the sentiment of letting them 'lie in their beds', seeing as how the U.S. was a prime actor in making that bed during 1944-45.
Cheers

... it could be that the massive quake that hit Indonesia is trying to extend the Himalayan Range.
Quite the year for heavy weather and natural disasters.
