GOP critical of Clinton remarks in Atlanta

Associated Press

ATLANTA - A spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee is brushing aside criticism of the Bush administration by Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton in a weekend speech here.

In a speech Sunday at an Atlanta synagogue, Clinton accused the administration of squandering the balanced budgets and fiscal responsibility that she said her husband created as president.

The New York Democrat, talked about as a potential president candidate in 2008, also said during the speech she believes the U.S. government should rethink its policy in Iraq.

She said the government should encourage the Iraqi people to take more control of their security and let them know American troops will not be there forever.

18. I can criticize Hillary all I want
I voted for her and she is my Senator. And I WILL vote for her again - for Senate, and if she runs for President, over any imbeciles that the far right, over the cliff, GOP may put up against her. I am not even a registered Democrat.

I have written to her many times (some criticism, some asking support)and she always answers me. She DOES need to know what her constituents think of her votes and stances on the issues. If she cannot keep our support, how can she expect the rest of the country to support her?

4. Okay are they saying there WEREN'T surpluses or that there are some now?
The following outlines when it is acceptable to criticize the Bush administration

You can criticize Bush* at any time other than the follow:

BEFORE he completely screws up. That is being an "obstructionist".

WHILE he is completely screwing up or WHILE he is covering up the screw up. That is "not offering positive alternatives"

AFTER he screws up. That is "Monday morning quarterbacking" or "revisionist history"** take your pic.

___________________________________________

*let's assume that, for brevity, that he has an actual function and is actually in charge***.

** see "Links to terrorism/WMD/a threat" changing to "freedom is on the march".

**** relax, we know he isn't at least we PRAY**** he isn't.

****even evil godless communist liberal types are willing to say a few words on bended knee just in case. OH PLEASE GOD NO... that sort of thing.

5. The only criticism in this story was this
The Republican National Committee spokeswoman, Tracey Schmitt, said in a statement Monday, "Finger pointing doesn't create jobs or make our nation safer."

She said Clinton and her fellow Democrats should refrain from criticizing the administration and "instead try to offer up an actual agenda."

7. Critical of her remarks?
Does that mean that there weren't surpluses? Or that if there were budget surpluses, they weren't squandered? Or that if there were budget surpluses and they were squandered, it wasn't Chimpy's little monkey hands on the controls?

What's to criticize? When does the Bush presidency actually begin for Republicans?

9. I sure hope she's our next president.
Just to hear the GOP heads explode every day. No one can get to them the way the Clintons do. The Clintons proved every one of their ideas wrong.

(Actually, I hope our next president is whomever Bush is forced to appoint when Cheney resigns, but why quibble over details?)

10. "Ladies and Gentlemen have you ever heard such hate?"
I believe that is the line Hannity uses when a caller has him. Why yes Sean we have heard such hate...back in the 90's your career and the entire RW hate radio industry was based on it and that guy was doing what you guys had been claiming you wanted to do for 20 years.

11. I'm critical, too. Why was she saying this at a synagogue?
I'd really like to see us keep partisan politics and religion separate as much as possible.

14. I so tire of Repugs just 'brusing aside' important issues. Just dismissing

things and issues that are so important to all of us.
