Bush calls CIA leak case 'very serious'

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush said on Monday the investigation into the outing of a covert CIA operative was "very serious," even as Republican allies started casting aspersions on the prosecutor and the possibility of perjury charges.

The mixed signals came as special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald appeared close to indicting top White House officials in the nearly two-year investigation, lawyers involved in the case said.

...

After a Cabinet meeting, Bush was asked whether he agreed with Republican suggestions that Fitzgerald may be overzealous and that possible perjury charges would be little more than legal technicalities.

"This is a very serious investigation," Bush said. Rove sat behind the president in the Cabinet room; across the room sat Libby.

President Bush declines to answer questions regarding the CIA leak investigation involving his adviser Karl Rove and Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby during a Cabinet meeting where he was giving an update on Hurricane Wilma and the war on terror, at the White House, in Washington, Monday, Oct. 24, 2005. 60. Its too late to off him, because..
Besides what the previous reply said, this late in the game, if hes killed conspiracy theorists would be all over it, even if the wasnt a single shred of evidence. but there would be some evidence (always will be) so half the nation would be all over it.

Its hard werk speaking Fweeper, its really hard werk!

I tell you, nookie, what's hard is remembering not to put in apostrophes, butchering the grammar, and misspelling all the words they misspell. We should create a fweeper dictionary :D

40. LOL!
I admit, I double and triple check my posts. God forbid if I had to use a semicolon! I'm not a grammar and punctuation star.

Granted, we all make mistakes. Ours are simple oversights. It happens.

It's just so much more fun to draw the parallels of the FReeps grammar, punctuation, and lack of spelling skills along with their blind ignorance. It just goes to show that they are the stupidest fuckers on the planet.

BTW, your dictionary has merit. It could really be HUGH!!!!111. Really.

if we ever agree i know theres a despicable reason for it

it was speculated that today the administration would be notified of indictments
perhaps this (coupled with bush saying cheney has been overly involved in intelligence matters) means cheney or cheneys staff is being thrown over

31. He didn't say the crime was serious
He said the 'investigation' was serious. And it is, for them.

Bush is just as quilty as the rest of them. I wonder how they will all feel when they realize that he is going to get off the hook while they face the music, for getting him the war he wanted so badly??

He also said today that Cheney was 'too involved in the intelligence gathering in the run-up to the war'.

This is quite a flip-flop from 'it's all background noise'.

I think it means that Cheney and Libby may have received their notices this morning, and whoever else is be indicted. So, Bush is now trying to act like he's above it all, and will make a speech about how he wishes he had had the time, in between 'terror fighting' and '9/11 and Iraq' etc. to pay more attention to what they were all doing.
