Oct. 24 (Bloomberg) -- U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair refused to rule out sanctions against Syria after a United Nations report that said the country had not cooperated in an investigation into the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri.
``I don't think you rule anything out in going forward,'' Blair said in a Sky News interview today. ``You can't get any more serious than trying to destroy the democracy of another country by terrorism. If there is any implication at all, as indeed there is in this report, that there were figures of authority in the Syrian government who were involved, then it has to be dealt with.''

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and U.K. Foreign Secretary Jack Straw yesterday said the UN should take action against Syria. Straw today said the U.S. was not considering military action against Syria.
``There has been no discussion that I have taken part in with the U.S. about military action,'' Straw told the U.K. Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee in London. ``I don't think it's on their agenda.''
