White House Sidesteps Cheney Questions

WASHINGTON - The White House on Tuesday sidestepped questions about whether Vice President Dick Cheney passed on to his top aide the identity of a CIA officer central to a federal grand jury probe.

A federal prosecutor is investigating whether the officer‘s identity was improperly disclosed.

"This is a question relating to an ongoing investigation and we‘re not having any further comment on the investigation while it‘s ongoing," White House press secretary Scott McClellan said.

McClellan said Cheney — who participated in a morning video conference on the Florida hurricane from Wyoming, where he is speaking at a University of Wyoming dinner tonight — is doing a "great job" as vice president.

2. You're doing a heckuva job, Dickie
while the people drown in scandal.

I'm beginning to think that all these investigations are really a plot by Scott McClellan so that he'll never have to answer another question.

3. Everytime the capability, integrity, or intentions
of any * admin member is questioned the response is that they are doing a great job. But nobody ever asks the logical followup question: If that's true why is everything so fucked up?

4. Odd thing to say about a VP
I think Scotty is either a robot or mentally deficient.

9. His family is probably being held hostage - if he farks up and...
...blurts out the truth about something, one of the kids is toast! If he even only giggles, the dog gets whacked!

11. You have to admire his work. from afar.
It is not so much that he is a robot. Rather, it is how hard he must try to turn off normal emotions like

shame
embarrassment
honor
ethics
integrity
honesty

It is not easy to avoid telling the press corpse, "YES we fucked up this nation. YES, we lied about WMD. YES, we are torturing peopl in violation of international law.

I feel for the guy. Not very much, honestly, but I do feel for him.

6. Well that's it, Cheney's number is up
Whenever the Admin says someone is doing a 'great job' or some variant on that theme it is definitely a death knell for their career. I think it's code for 'has screwed the pooch.'

8. Well now we all understand why Cheney was house-shopping
a few weeks back.

Oh, sorry, I guess that was just a coincidence.

10. what would happen if little snotty held a press conference
and no one showed up?.. IMO the press should turn the tables on the bastids. Instead of cowering to their threats of being cutoff from the Whitehouse if they don't tow the Mepublican line. Boycott it.

Seems to me they both need each other to survive.

12. Sounds like McClellan isn't reading the talking points:
he's supposed to say that Cheney is 'doing a heck of a job.'

"You're doing a heck of a job, Cheney."

14. What does Haliburton's "Help Wanted" list look like now?
Of course that might be wishful thinking on their part, unless they can get "prison labor contracts" or some such!

16. its a thankless job
but he IS doing his job. personally i found air fleischer much more amusing, since he had almost no self-control and would snap at the drop of a hat. scotty is better at the job, but even he loses it once in a while.
