Bush salutes Rosa Parks for courage that "transformed" America

BOLLING AIR FORCE BASE, WASHINGTON President Bush is saluting a woman whose courage, he says, "transformed America for the better."

He says civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks -- who died yesterday at age 92 -- was "one of the most inspiring women of the 20th century."

Speaking to an audience of military spouses, the president said Parks' 1955 refusal to give up her seat on a Montgomery, Alabama, bus "was an act of personal courage." He says that act "moved millions" -- and created the modern civil rights movement.

Bush says Parks will always have a "special place" in American history.

1. Indeed, thanks to the Civil Rights movement, racists now make up his base.
He has a lot to thank Rosa Parks for.

4. Is Bush living on a military base now, that is the only place he speaks
at anymore. He never goes off of the base. Always follows the script, still has a little trouble with the mike and the speaking still.

Is he afraid to speak to his American citizens? Whats the deal?

5. Mrs Parks will rank higher than Bush on list of greatest Americans
She helped change the course of American history. Bush and his cronies are trying to roll those changes back.

10. That's damning with faint praise. Bush won't be on any list
of greatest Americans, unless it's a list of greatest American villains.

8. "Bush says Parks will always have a 'special place' in American history."
Yep. And so will the first president to be impeached AND convicted.

Gonna dream, dream big.

It's almost unseemly for this man to praise Mrs. Parks -- the embodiment of dignity and grace… she put the "civil" in civil disobedience.

He probably didn't even know who she was until one of his
minions filled him in (and wrote his speech).

My loathing of him grows daily.

30. OK, I'm going to make a prediction
Be on the lookout for the GOP "Stepin Fetchits" to come crawling out of the woodwork: Thomas Sowell, et. al. who will use this event to totally rewrite the history of the Civil Rights Movement in general, and this woman's contributions to the Civil Rights Movement in particular. They will be all over Faux News and RW Christian media outlets.

I don't own a crystal ball; it's just that the GOP slime machine is very predictable.

45. Maybe he meant the street in uptown New Orleans
there really is one called "Rosa Park", predating the late civil rights leader by several decades, and it's full of the sort of rich white people King Dumbass** obviously feels comfortable with...

...but then again, he's not fit to utter any N.O. street name, either, not until he actually gets something done for the city, so there!
