Bush, Party Faithful Gather for Fundraiser

By NEDRA PICKLER
The Associated Press
Tuesday, October 25, 2005; 10:51 PM

WASHINGTON -- President Bush gathered with his party faithful Tuesday night for a $15,000-a-couple dinner that the Republican National Committee reported raised at least $1 million.

The dinner was a 30th anniversary celebration for the Republican Eagles _ donors who raise at least $15,000 a year. For their contributions, the 260 attendees dined on seared mignon of beef, received a commemorative paperweight and heard a speech from the commander in chief.

Bush promoted his second term agenda items of immigration, tax relief, budget cuts, energy, Social Security reform and changes to the medical malpractice laws. He urged Harriet Miers', winning applause for a Supreme Court nominee who has drawn objections from conservatives.
...
"Some say we ought to just pull out of Iraq. That is a foolhardy policy," he said, earning him the one standing ovation to interrupt his speech.

2. So that's only like 66 people in attendance? (or 33 couples)
seems like a pretty lame turnout for a big GOP funraiser to me. Perhaps the "loyalists" are shrinking, and so they have to shell out a lot more to play with the boy king.

3. Fifteen Thousand Dollars per couple?
Seven-point-Five thousand dollars per head?

It seems that die-hard Chimpy supporters have far too much new (or borrowed) money and far too little common sense!

4. Wonder how many of those "Eagles" have

children or grandchildren serving in Iraq? I'd be willing to bet zero. Wealthy assholes standing there applauding a bunch of pro-war bullshit served up by a chickenhawk who steered clear of Vietnam, but is all too willing to sacrifice other people's children for no good reason.

Chimp has all the time in the world for the "have mores" but couldn't spare five minutes to meet with Cindy Sheehan, a woman whose son was sacrified for oil, profit, and neocon blood lust. Dispicable.

5. Let's rephrase that to call things by their real names
Delete:
Bush promoted his second term agenda items of immigration, tax relief, budget cuts, energy, Social Security reform and changes to the medical malpractice laws.

Should read:
Bush promoted his second term agenda items of keeping a supply of illegal cheap labor, more massive tax cuts for the obscenely rich, axing any remnants of actual government services, guaranteeing even larger profits for oil companies, gutting Social Security and making it illegal to sue his friends.

(truth in advertising)
