Maybe Jr will feel the need to be with Family during this time (if the indictments pan out)

President to Survey Hurricane Damage

By ERIK SCHELZIG, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 52 minutes ago

MIAMI -
President Bush plans to visit Florida today to get his first look at the damage wrought by Wilma and to visit the
National Hurricane Center in Miami.

Meanwhile,
Homeland Security Secretary
Michael Chertoff, who oversees FEMA, promised to deploy cargo planes overnight to gather water and ice from across the country for delivery by Thursday.

He asked victims to have patience as he surveyed crumpled boats, shattered mobile homes and snaking lines of cars at fuel stations along the storm's path.

Chertoff said the government was working to find more power generators to send to south Florida, and called on oil companies to help distributors get fuel out of the ground and into gas tanks.......

2. Fema supplies wasting is some places. none is others!

"This is like the Third World," said Claudia Shaw, who spent several hours in a gas line. "We live in a state where we suffer from these storms every year. Where is the planning?"

Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Alvarez called the relief distribution system "flawed" and said at least one of 11 sites in his county ran out of supplies.

But at another South Florida distribution site, ice sat melting Wednesday night, with officials issuing a plea on television stations: Come get it before it goes to waste.

Florida's official death toll doubled from five to 10 Wednesday, and the storm also killed at least 12 people in Haiti, four in Mexico and one in Jamaica.

3. He's Going To Learn That Non-Black Hurricane Victims Won't ....
be as patient as those hit by Katrina in New Orleans. They're going to be vocal and really give us some non-scripted photo-ops this trip down.

10. I read that Mexican president was at Cancun the next day.
Edited on Thu Oct-27-05 11:19 AM by Divernan
Also talked yesterday to a bunch of US tourists in OHare Airport who had just returned from Cancun. One group of 250 guests were taken by their hotel to some kind of arena in Cancun before the hurricane hit. DURING the hurricane, the roof blew off. DURING the hurricane, the Mexican government got buses to the roofless arena and transported the tourists/foreigners to another shelter. The Americans also repeatedly spoke with gratitude of how the local Mexicans, whose pitifully built homes had been totally destroyed were still doing whatever they could to help the stranded tourists. I have been to the area several times and am not surprised at the warmth and caring from the Mayan/Mexican peoples there. They are primarily motivated by their sense of families and communities, and not by selfishness and greed, as we see far too much of among the Norteamericanos.

The people I talked to were able to get taxis to take them back to their hotels the day before they were scheduled to fly out. They found water and sand all over the TENTH floor.

12. I hope indictments are public by then and he has to answer questions.
Those little hurricane trips, of course, are just stage-managed attempts to bolster his image. Should be lots of press there.

17. bush is too weak and cowardly to stand and face the music
The whole White House press corps should travel to Florida, just in case Fitz announces indictments, and they should make a point of inquiring about them. This is too important to let bush get away with playing his silly games of hide-and-seek.
