South Charleston Mayor Switching Parties

South Charleston mayor Richie Robb is switching parties.

The longtime Republican says he didn't leave the GOP, rather, the party left him behind.

Robb says he changed his voter registration to Democrat a couple of weeks ago.

The mayor, who earned a Bronze Star for his service in Vietnam, caused a stir when he introduced a resolution calling on President Bush to withdraw troops from Iraq.

4. Great another Republican lite! Just what we need!
This way he can stay elected and still do every screwed up thing a rightwinger does in the first place. Thank god we have the best system in the world!

11. Hey, don't discount the words Dem and South Carolina in the
same sentence!!!!

You have no idea how unacceptable that is in that State! It's at least a step in the right direction!

6. I remember when Senators Shelby and Nighthorse Campbell switched
parties just about the time the GOP took control of Congress. It was a disgusting display of self-interest.

I rather have one that has been alongside with us on the trenches fighting the rightwing than one of these fair weather friends, but I am not about to shut the door on any rat that is defecting the RW ship. Just remember they are rats!

8. This is great news!
Didn't the attorney general of Kansas also switch?

It certainly shows that we have the momentum!

9. Hmm...Republicans switching our way. This could be significant.
Never forget that it was when the conservative Democrats started switching their affiliations back around 1964-1966 that marked the top in Democratic fortunes. This is the second such event in a week with the other being in Kansas.
