Libby's Quiet Rise to Power Comes to End
Libby's Quiet Rise to Power Comes to End
By NEDRA PICKLER, Associated Press Writer

Friday, October 28, 2005

(10-28) 09:57 PDT WASHINGTON, (AP) --

I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby quietly rose to the highest corridors of power in Washington only to be brought down in a scandal that thrust him into the limelight that he so explicitly avoided.

Libby's behind-the-scenes involvement in the public exposure of a covert CIA agent led to his indictment Friday on obstruction, false statement and perjury charges, depriving Vice President Dick Cheney of his closest adviser.

The Columbia University-trained lawyer has foreign policy expertise as a former aide in the Defense and State departments. He has been extremely loyal to Cheney and, in return, had the vice president's unwavering trust.

Libby was known as "Cheney's Cheney." Just as President Bush has Cheney as his behind-the-scenes adviser and problem-solver, Cheney had Libby as his trusted right-hand man. "Scooter is to Cheney as Cheney is to Bush," former Cheney aide Mary Matalin said.

catching them in their evil deeds, making sure that republicans do not control investigations, convicting them of their crimes, and sending them to prison, where they belong. Libby is just a drop of water in an endless sea. He was ordered by Cheney to get Joe Wilson, and let's hope for once that the cops get the head honchos along with the petty crooks.

Mr. Fitzgerald has done very well so far, and he does not appear to have been compromised. Hopefully now he will nail one of the most dangerous criminals in the US - the traitor, Karl Rove.

Karl Rove has done a lot of truly heinous things that have not come out in the light. He deserves life in prison without parole.

I fervently hope he gets exactly what he deserves. ;-)

36. maybe. Remember pardons are usually done at the end of the pres. term
Reagan pardoned the iran contra crooks, Bush senior pardoned crooks, and Clinton did the same at the end of his term. Once the election has taken place for a successor people quickly forget. Libby just has to drag this thing out for 38 months...

To: West Coast Conservative
Now is a good time for Cheney to resign due to his health and loss of counsel. That way, the next President of the United States can be put into position.
We have a great administration in the Whitehouse right now. If the democrats had gone after Clinton's purgery, obstruction of justice, and lying to the American people with the same fervor, it would have taken half the time at half the price! Plus, Libby is just council. Imagine if he were the President!!
The Bush administration handled this very well. We should be proud.

Check out the "purgery" and "he's just 'council.'" Dumber than doornails as usual and still whining about Clinton. And what's up with half the time and half the price? Don't they know how much Starr spent?

32. LINK: Cheney Adviser Resigns After Indictment
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/cia_leak_investigation

WASHINGTON - The vice president's chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby Jr., was indicted Friday on charges of obstruction of justice, perjury and making false statements in the CIA leak investigation, a politically charged case that will throw a spotlight on President Bush's push to war.

Libby, 55, resigned and left the White House.

Karl Rove, Bush's closest adviser, escaped indictment Friday but remained under investigation, his legal status casting a dark cloud over a White House already in trouble. The U.S. military death toll in Iraq exceeded 2,000 this week, and the president's approval ratings are at the lowest point since he took office in 2001.

Friday's charges stemmed from a two-year investigation by special counsel Patrick Fitzgerald into whether Rove, Libby or any other administration officials knowingly revealed the identity of CIA officer Valerie Plame or lied about their involvement to investigators.

Feel free to visit, I start each post with a cartoon/comic, then usually a quote about the comic, followed by a brief personal message.

I'm trying to figure out how to deal with this issue. Tried a few things and so far not liking the results.

57. I certainly wish
it would get that many hits. Actually, I just got it up and running Thursday of this week.

I'm still trying to work on jazzing it up.

Well, the project you are working on sounds great.

How are you going about getting it started? How would I be able to help out?

At the present time I am unemployed, and have been keeping busy with improving my graphic art skills. Currently using Photoshop, Illustrator, and Final Cut Pro.

Last summer I made a mini documentary about the lead up to the Iraqi war, titled "Smoking Guns Mushroom Clouds", it was my first time editing and I think it turned out pretty good considering my lack of an education in this field.

Keep me posted about your project and I will see how I can contribute.
