WP: With Career Derailed, Plame Likely to Leave CIA
Edited on Fri Oct-28-05 04:28 PM by kskiska
What's next for Valerie Plame?

Lost in the din of the leak scandal that has consumed Washington is the very personal impact on the gracious, willowy CIA operative at its center. Plame, the wife of former U.S. ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV and arguably the most famous spy in the world, is not likely to stay at the CIA, some acquaintances say.

With her career derailed, Plame, 42, the mother of 5-year-old twins, hasn't publicly signaled her plans. But privately she has said that she feels she has no future at the spy agency where she has worked for 20 years.

(snip)

In 2006, Plame marks her 20th year as a CIA officer, the vast majority of her service spent in the shadows as a clandestine operative. She qualifies for retirement but would not receive full benefits unless she stayed with the agency until age 50.

(snip)

"For all intents and purposes out at the CIA, she's like a leper . . . she's radioactive," said Larry Johnson, a former CIA analyst and acquaintance of Plame's who was in her officer training class in 1985-86. "There are instances where some people at headquarters have shunned her. In other cases, they don't know what to say. It's like someone whose child has died: What do you say to them? . . .

"There are a variety of things she could have done at the agency," Johnson said. "She could have become a station chief overseas and run espionage operations. It has destroyed her life on that front. What is she supposed to do now, wear a button saying, " 'Hi, I work for the CIA'?"

1. "What's next for Valerie Plame?"
Hows about a mega-bucks law suit? They just took her career away not to mention endangering her life. If that eagle beaked trailer tramp can sue the Big Dog (SCOTUS ruled she could , 9 to 0) Why can't she do the same?

6. She's 2 Years Older Than Me
I've worked at another agency since I came out of college, just like she did. Only I've been a desk jockey for my entire career. :D The shame of this is that it costs a whole lot of money to train someone like Ms. Plame, and she was apparently very good at what she did. Now all of that money, plus her brilliant career (not to mention the lives of her contacts) are shot to hell.

Serve your country faithfully, even when all of your friends are leaving to go to private industry or be stay-at-home Moms, and THIS is the thanks you get. This is why they call us the "SILENT Warriors".

7. Perhaps Plame could sue Bush Inc. for loss of her earnings
Afterall, if the pigs hadn't of outed her, she'd still have a job and she could have worked at that job until she could retire at 50.

11. Oh well. you know the Linda Tripp thing was caused by a blow-job
As we KNOW, a blow-job is the MOST HEINOUS CRIME known to mankind EVER...ONLY if it's a Democrat that's getting the blow-job OBVIOUSLY.

And poor Linda lost her job due to a Democrat getting a blow-job...so we can't POSSIBLY liken her tragic situation to Valerie Plame losing her job at the CIA because Cheney and Bolton outed her because her husband refused to LIE for them.

We need to get our perspective and priorities right here you know :sarcasm:

14. With a civil suit, they can call anyone to testify!
That could be a roundabout way to call the whole damn administration and put them under oath. A civil suit would be great! She can sue the federal government easily. I expect that as soon as the criminal stuff is out of the way, she'll launch a civil suit. Bascially, Bush will be in deep shit for the next 3 years.

15. She needs to go to the producers, directors, and writers of
"Good Night and Good Luck". I haven't seen it yet; I'd like to, and it's been getting great reviews and lots of critical acclaim so far.

She needs to go to them and secure the film rights to this whole saga once it's all over but the serving of time for those involved. In the meantime, she can sue- and win- and throw that money at getting an all-star cast to tell this whole story to the entire world SO IT NEVER, EVER HAPPENS AGAIN.

16. This is so sad for her...
not to mention dangerous. I'm all for the civil suit, this bunch ruined her career. All the information she had, her network...this is serious crap. Put her life on the line for this country, and they blew it. They owe her, big bucks.

Makes me see red...

17. That's why I think she should take the milk and honey approach.
She needs to get this story out, full and complete. She should go into seclusion until she can do so.

I doubt she'll ever be completely safe again.

What a pity. What a waste.

Such an incredible loss.
