Republican party to campaign against state issues

LIMA —
~~snip~~

State issues 2, 3, 4 and 5 are constitutional amendments that would allow for early voting, limit campaign contributions, change how congressional and General Assembly districts are drawn and take away the Ohio secretary of state’s authority to administer elections, giving it to a nine-member board.
(snip)

Cheney said a campaign against issues is rare for the party, but necessary.

“We’re taking this campaign to the streets,” Cheney said. “We cannot and will not allow out-side interests to dictate the great state of Ohio and Allen County.”

Republicans said the issues are simply a ploy by out-of-state Democratic interests to change the rules of the game so they can win a majority in Congress and the presidency in 2008.

1. With Blackwell sinking and Taft sunk, the GOP of Ohio is sure grasping at
straws.

Give a rest, you self-pious prick. Your control over the state of Ohio is rapidly coming to a close.

2. Cheney: "The Republican Party must maintain the right to gerrymander!"
It takes an absolute disdain for the idea of democracy to object to any system that would allow for a more equitable way of dividing districts so that they are not under the control of partisan interests.

If a way could be developed that would ensure that districts would not be divided as to alienate any voters I would approve even if it would hurt Democrats. I guess it is because I actually believe in democracy though.

3. After all of the corruption and abuse in Ohio
and all of the communities that have been economically desecrated- if these measures fail, then I suppose the majority of Ohians will deserve what they'll get...

It's already hard to have any sympathy for 50% of the people in the state.

7. Or at least Diebold's fifty percent....
I don't believe that it is commonplace but in very contested areas such as Florida and Ohio it is almost a certainty. It has to be fairly close to begin with though so I guess I would tend to agree with your statement. It is just so unfare that others should have to suffer for their ignorance.....

4. What happened to State Rights and the GOP?
I thought that was a back bone of that party?

6. exactly. 'Contract with Murika' was all about 'states rights'
and so

a) Why don't all these people who supported states rights no longer support states rights? (911 is not an answer)

b) Why aren't they being held accountable for suddenly dumping this (and so many other) platform policies?

It seems like a good investigate newspaper would be curious about this. :eyes:

5. The CA GOP has no problem getting behind Arnold
I got a thing in the mail labeled " Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's Ballot Proposition Voter Guide" It was put out by the CA GOP. "Cheney said a campaign against issues is rare for the party, but necessary." Bull... I have printed proof they have no problem. They are so behind Arnold that they are mailing their propaganda to everybody in red counties. On the back of the 10 page voter guide it says "Arnold's top props; Yes on 74,75,76,77", "For more info visit www.joinarnold.com" Then it says in small print "Paid for by the California Republican Party, 1903 West Magnolia Blvd, Burbank, CA 91506" The GOP gets behind issues, that is how they advance their agenda.
