Atoll Still Scarred by (Nuclear) Tests
Atoll still scarred by tests

Unexpectedly high levels of radioactive contamination are being discovered in French Polynesia almost a decade after nuclear testing ended on Mururoa Atoll, says the territory's President, Oscar Temaru.

Up to five people a day are being sent to private hospitals in Auckland for diagnosis and treatment for what may be radiation-related illnesses, officials say.

Mr Temaru has accused the French Government of covering up the health and environmental consequences of the testing.

France conducted 41 atmospheric nuclear tests over the Tuamotu atolls of Mururoa and Fangataufa between 1966 and 1974.

1. France is following the US practice of covering up nuclear test results
A witness also told of an important French military official going to the island and leaving abruptly after a test.

Gee, I wonder why did that French official leave in such a rush.

The reason for the cover up is simple: nuclear powers don't want their own populations to realize how long lasting are the effects of nuclear fallout. They fear that their own people will turn against the use and possession of atomic weapons.

2. If the people were able to go to Hiroshima they would see the truth!
Peace Memorial Museum of Hiroshima is extremely disturbing.

3. The American media never covers the Hiroshima story
They always talk about Pearl Harbor to justify the atomic bombings just as Bush talks about 9/11 to justify his war crimes.

4. First we blow the shit out of them, then we sink them with global warming.
If there is some sort of judgement day, our nation will have a special spot in hell reserved.
