In rare interview, Prince Charles says climate change is 'terrifying'
He also voices concern about the dependence on technology in modern life
By MICHAEL MCDONOUGH
Associated Press

LONDON - Prince Charles says he believes the pace of climate change is terrifying and people are becoming too dependent on technology.

In a rare TV interview ahead of his official tour of the United States next week, Charles expressed concern that economic progress is "upsetting the whole balance of nature."

"You know, if you look at the latest figures on climate change and global warming ... they're terrifying, terrifying," Charles told CBS' 60 Minutes in the interview aired Sunday.

The prince is a keen environmentalist, but his office declined to say whether Charles will raise the issue of climate change when he dines with President Bush at the White House this week. Clarence House, the prince's office, said it would not be appropriate to comment on a private dinner.

1. I saw this interview last night. I was very impressed. I had never
heard him talk about anything before. I hope he can teach shrub a thing or two while he is here this week.

2. I learned a LOT about Chuck last night.
So much for my image of him as a lug-eared, inbred do-nothing.
That village of his looked very livable. No strip mall.

Typical elite. Charles put your words to action. Get rid of your private jets, your fleet of yachts and your 10 huge mansions throughtout the world.

Your homes/planes/boats consume more energy in one year than 30 families use in a lifetime.

"The prince is a keen environmentalist" -yeah as long as the commoners are the ones having to conserve.

10. Prince Charles believes if the species is to survive,
we must cull the herd and get the population under one billion. That's why he's coming over to talk with Bush. It's Bush's new bird flue plan.
