Former Iranian Pres. Criticizes Ahmadinejad

Former Iranian premier Mohammed Khatami has voiced his concerns over the recent statements made by current Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad that "Israel must be wiped off the map."

Speaking at a museum of the Koran in Teheran recently, Khatami said, "We should not say things that create economic and political problems in the world," according to the French news agency AFP. Although he did not mention his successor by name or refer explicitly to his comments, Khatami warned against "criticizing liberalism using fascist values and principles in the name of Islam."
