Bush sets out to salvage 2nd term (Gallup Poll - 55% failed presidency)

http://news.yahoo.com/s/usatoday/20051031/ts_usatoday/bushsetsouttosalvage2ndterm;_ylt=ArE0YTiYgl5_3nD6hxPVD2Ss0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTA3b2NibDltBHNlYwM3MTY-

Bush sets out to salvage 2nd term

After fumbling the nomination of a Supreme Court justice and defending an unpopular war that has now cost more than 2,000 American lives, Bush finds his presidency at a new low. A USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup Poll taken Friday through Sunday shows that a solid majority of Americans, 55%, now judge Bush's presidency to be a failure. (Related: Complete poll results)

...

But some outside the White House - including senators from both parties and veterans of previous presidential staffs - question whether Bush is prepared to order the far-reaching changes that presidents Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton made after encountering serious setbacks in their second terms.

"The real question for President Bush is going to be: Is he going to be like (Richard) Nixon - hunker down, get into the bunker, admit no mistakes," Sen. Charles Schumer (news, bio, voting record), D-N.Y., said on CBS' Face the Nation, "or, like Reagan, who actually admitted mistakes, did a mid-course correction and brought in new people, bipartisan people, people above ethical reproach, into the White House."

Mississippi Sen. Trent Lott (news, bio, voting record), a Republican, said on Fox News Sunday that Bush should be on the lookout for "new blood, new energy, qualified staff, new people in the administration."

1. "salvaging"
in The Handmaid's Tale, meant that "apostates" were murdered in stadiums, Roman-style.

This administration's power should, and hopefully will, be terminated thusly.

NB: No physical harm to any persons is advocated in this post. Just their obscene power base and structure. My wish is that the personnel shall go quietly into the dark night of infamy, and remembered forever in history for the evil they have done.

2. Well...
If he wants to salvage his second term, he has to start pretty damn soon, because it seems the ship is taking on a lot of water, and going down steady. His new SC nominee seems to drive another nail into his political coffin. Bush can't seem to make any accomadations for anyone, its a MY WAY or NO WAY approach. If he continues down this idiotic road, the ship will sink, and he will be up there with the likes of Nixon.

I don't see him changing anything, he is like a spoiled child who will admit no fault, take on any accountability...but, who knows.

4. "qualified staff"
....And someone should tell President Asshat that "qualified staff" means something more than "I've known this person a long time."

5. he's already in a bunker -
He's been sealed off from the real world for years now. I think it is time that the learned pundits who write this kind of gibberish understand that he likes it that way. He likes having people kiss his butt, the more flattery the better as far as he's concerned. He's not going to change a damn thing. Not a damn thing. Christ his boy Brownie is still on the government payroll - you call that making big changes?

6. The Silverspoon Sociopath is a Sock Puppet.
His entire life has been one failure after another, bailed out by his family and pushed to higher levels where his incompetence is even more evident. Will he be bailed out this time? The RW is out in full force attempting to spread the word that the troubles are now over and sailling will be smooth for this Failed Admin. The Corp. Media is on board and spreading the manure.

8. FAILED PRESIDENCY

YOU PEOPLE voted for the clown. Sack up and eat your medicine. I voted for Kerry...I have a right to bitch...you people need to STFU, because I know you'll be thinking he's a winner when he comes out and waves a few flags and thumps a bible while excruciatingly butchering the English language at one of his next photo ops.

9. Yes, he is trying to cover up the criminal activities by
nominating someone we know will cause a fight. But if we end up filibustering I suggest that our Dems find and read all the newspaper articles regarding all the bad news from day one. That way we keep Fitz and his investigation, the deaths in the Iraq, the missing money in Iraq & NO, and the criminal activities of the day in the sight of the people.
