New DNC Web Video Reminds Bush of His Promise on Ethics
http://releases.usnewswire.com/GetRelease.asp?id=55909

WASHINGTON, Oct. 31 /U.S. Newswire/ -- In the wake of last Friday's indictment of I. Lewis Libby on charges of perjury, obstruction of justice, and making false statements, the Democratic National Committee unveiled a new web video to remind President Bush of the standard that he himself set for conduct in his administration. DNC Chairman Howard Dean issued the following statement calling on President Bush to apologize for his Administration's actions, fire Karl Rove, and adhere to the ethical standards he professed during his campaign:

"Given the serious nature of the charges against Scooter Libby, and the significant questions that remain regarding the actions of Karl Rove and the White House Iraq Group, President Bush should take responsibility for this lapse in conduct. He should start with an apology to the American people for those in his Administration who acted on his behalf to manipulate intelligence to win support for the war in Iraq, smear opponents of that war, and cover up that smear campaign. President Bush must also keep his promise to fire anyone involved in the outing of Valerie Wilson by terminating Karl Rove and anyone else in the White House Iraq Group who participated in this conspiracy.

"During his campaign for president, Bush promised to hold himself and his aides to the highest ethical standards, promising to 'put conscience above what the lawyers tell us.' But, in handling the most serious national security decisions, the Bush White House has dramatically failed to meet the standard they set. Despite hosting numerous White House photo-ops vowing to uphold the highest ethical standards, the Bush White House has blatantly compromised our moral code by placing its political agenda ahead of America's national security. America deserves better than empty rhetoric and meaningless photo-ops. The President must hold himself and his administration accountable."

2. Bush has a habit of not keeping his word
Bush seems to get away with duplicity. Remember Osama Bin Laden 'wanted dead or alive' and then 'I don't care where Osama Bin Laden isis'

3. Bush never said he didn't care about Usama...if he had media would've been
all over him for it. Especially if he lied about saying it on national television during a presidential debate.

Wouldn't they?

6. Well documented in the media
Of course, two years ago Bush said exactly that:

"I don’t know where he is. Nor — you know, I just don’t spend that much time on him really, to be honest with you. I....I truly am not that concerned about him."

8. Silence of the media?
Well we are at it, where the hell was Kerry on that one?

He should have made an issue of that at the debates, and his team should have done a full-scale media blitz juxtaposing all those bin Laden quotes.

In the week leading up to the election, it should have been unavoidable for any American to turn on the TV or put on the radio in their car without seeing and hearing definitive proof that their *sainted* President was a bald-faced liar.

10. He did...in fact, he was the one who hit Bush with it at the debate.
The media refused to follow up and hold Bush accountable, while they muted the volume on those Dems screaming about that point.

Did you NOT see the debate? Why on earth would you claim Kerry didn't say anything about it when it was Kerry who pointed out that Bush said it DURING THE DEBATE.

13. Of course I saw the debate
And, no, Kerry didn't press the issue on this. He brought it up, and after Bush lied about it, he said nothing further on the subject. That was my point. AFTER Bush denied ever having said it, Kerry could have had a field day with it. He didn't. End of story.

Don't believe me? Here's the transcript:

"
KERRY: Yes. When the president had an opportunity to capture or kill Osama bin Laden, he took his focus off of them, outsourced the job to Afghan warlords, and Osama bin Laden escaped.

Six months after he said Osama bin Laden must be caught dead or alive, this president was asked, "Where is Osama bin Laden?" He said, "I don't know. I don't really think about him very much. I'm not that concerned."

We need a president who stays deadly focused on the real war on terror.

SCHIEFFER: Mr. President?

BUSH: Gosh, I just don't think I ever said I'm not worried about Osama bin Laden. It's kind of one of those exaggerations.

Of course we're worried about Osama bin Laden. We're on the hunt after Osama bin Laden. We're using every asset at our disposal to get Osama bin Laden.

My opponent said this war is a matter of intelligence and law enforcement. No, this war is a matter of using every asset at our disposal to keep the American people protected.

SCHIEFFER: New question, Mr. President, to you."

Brilliant followup by Kerry there where he made absolutely no further mention of it, wasn't it?

Brilliant use of that footage -- Bush lying -- in their campaign ads afterwards.

(That's sarcasm, btw.)

14. That wasn't allowed in the rules for debate. And it was the media that did
not follow up on Bush's lie. Kerry and his campaign DID bring up how Bush lied, and no media wanted to discuss it.

It was also a rule of the debate that footage from the debate could not be used in campaign ads.

Amazing that you would blame the guy who brought it up over the media who refused to discuss it.
