Iraq Resistance Attacks
IRAQ RESISTANCE ATTACKS

When the United States government attacked Iraq without moral or legal mandate, there was no logic in fighting the world's greatest military power to the death. Instead Iraqi fighters presented only token initial resistance. Iraq's real defensive force went underground in order to resist and disrupt the inevitable occupation with minimum effort.

The resistance movement in Iraq is a legitimate effort against an unjustified occupation of their country by a foreign aggressor. Fury over the illegal invasion of a sovereign nation by the United States is generating increased hatred of America. This can only increase the threat of terrorism against American interests. It has also led to a flood of foreign fighters pouring into Iraq just to fight against Americans.

Fighters are not battling because of hatred or fear of freedom. This is a ridiculous claim. Iraqi people are defending their country in a legitimate resistance to an illegal occupation. Foreign allies are not only furious about the illegal invasion of Iraq. They also recognise that where their own countries oppose Israel's illegal occupation of Palestine, or produce oil, or both, then they too could be targets for invasion.

AMERICAN CASUALTIES

In the latest resistance attack two US chinook helicopters were assaulted using surface-to-air missiles or rocket propelled grenades. At least 13 US soldiers have been killed and at least 20 injured.

The American soldiers who were attacked had been on their way to Baghdad airport before taking leave from duty.

This represents the most horrific and destructive single act of resistance since the United States led the unlawful and unjustified invasion of Iraq. The shooting down of the chinook could represent an escalation in the resistance movement's attempts to destabilise the illegal US-led occupation of Iraq.

AMERICAN ANGER

The US oilgovernment has so far prevented any pictures of coffins draped in the stars & stripes from getting onto American TV screens.

If the resistance movement in Iraq continues to take American lives on a dramatic scale then US public opposition to the occupation is likely to escalate, regardless of attempts to conceal or manipulate the issue.

The Iraq war was sold to the American people on lies and propaganda, about weapons of mass destruction and threats to the American public. It has even been hinted that Iraq may have had involvement in the attacks of September 11. There is not, and never has been, any evidence to support any of these lies.

While the corporate-funded media cannot ignore the fact that the pretexts for attacking Iraq were exaggerated or fabricated, they have failed to ask the crucial question: the Iraq war was not about terrorism or WMD. It was not about tyranny either because American taxes have funded and armed tyranny in Iraq, Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Israel and elsewhere. American support for tyranny continues in many places.

Why was Iraq attacked? The answer is twofold: Oil and Israel.

The US government will not withdraw American men from Iraq. They do not care about casualties on either side. The occupation of Iraq was always about siezing Iraq's oil and eliminating opposition to Israel's illegal occupation of Palestinian land.

Large numbers of American casualties could assist the US oilgovernment in their plans to attack and occupy Syria, Iran and other anti-Israel oilcountries. Syria and Iran are likely to be blamed for supporting Iraq's resistance to the American invasion and occupation. Syria and Iran are going to be attacked anyway. American deaths lead to American anger and American anger has too often been mis-directed against innocent parties in order to further the agendas of the Israel lobby and the oil industry.

2. Should be three fold, really add this
This is an american show of arms to keep all these people in line.See what we can do to your country if you do not do as we say. It was what Bush's tour of Asia was about also.Something is ill in this country when we have to do this, and I guess it means someone is creeping up our butt in the market system. Do not say we wish the world to be free, as every thing we have done for years speaks a different toon and you know it as well as I.The CIA has removed rulers elected by their own people as this country does not want to nationalize industry, or water, or phone or anything we have corp own in these countries. Now we are doing the same to Iraq. Selling off the country to Am business. So the ruler must be for us just as Sadam was when Ronny was dealing with him. Well I got that off my mind.
