Bush Losing Support on Iraq, Poll Says
WOW!!!! Check out these numbers!!!

WASHINGTON - President Bush (news - web sites) is losing public support for his war and economic policies, according to a new poll which for the first time shows that a majority of Americans disapprove of his handling of Iraq (news - web sites).

A slim majority, 51 percent, disapprove of his Iraq policy, while 47 percent approve, according to the ABC News-Washington Post poll released Sunday.

Most Americans, 54 percent, continue to believe the Iraq war was worth fighting, but that's down from 70 percent in April. A new high — 62 percent — say the level of U.S. casualties is unacceptable.

Fewer than one in 10 Americans say Bush has made the nation more prosperous, while 58 percent — a new high — say the president fails to understand their problems.

The economy remains a major issue, with 45 percent of Americans approving of the way Bush is handling the economy and 53 percent disapproving. By a wide margin, 62 percent to 35 percent, the public sees the economy as a more pressing problem than terrorism.

2. "15 killed as US army chopper shot down over Iraq: coalition"
People can't help but notice that many deaths-and every single American soldier who has died in this manufactured SNAFU is loved and remembered by many, many people.

Your damn right he's losing support! His policies are killing our children, lovers, family, and friends.

3. Exactly, kimchi. I'm sure a poll taken after today would show...
... even less support for the war with Iraq.

Or, maybe the Republican apologists will just whip out a folded-up copy of the New York Times, trumpeting the "soaring Bush economy," much like Republican apologist (and traitor) Zell Miller did on "Meet the Press" today.

9. Another Article On This: Nation once again split on Bush (Washington Post)
As 2004 nears, policies on Iraq, economy divide voters

By David S. Broder and Dan Balz

<snip>

WASHINGTON, Nov. 2 — Two years after a surge of national unity in the wake of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, the United States is once again a 50-50 nation, shaped by partisan divisions as deep as ever that stand between President Bush and reelection.

A YEAR BEFORE Election Day, growing questions about the U.S. mission in Iraq and continuing anxieties about the jobs picture, despite recent signs of economic improvement, dominate the political agenda, according to interviews with scores of voters in all regions of the country and amplified by a new Washington Post-ABC News Poll.

Three years after one of the closest and most bitterly contested elections in U.S. history, the nation is again polarized over the performance of the president. Bush’s Republican supporters see him as strong and decisive, a man of good character and moral convictions. His Democratic detractors believe that, at home and abroad, he is leading the country in the wrong direction.

Democrats, however, are virtually invisible as an effective opposition to a president who commands center stage. Even many loyal Democrats complain that their party has no strong leaders and no alternative vision to Bush on either foreign or economic policy. The nine Democratic presidential candidates have made almost no impression on voters outside the few states with early caucuses or primaries next year. Most voters cannot name more than one or two of the candidates.

For first time Bush faces majority who disapprove of war strategy

http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,1076460,00.html

For the first time, a poll has found that a majority of Americans disapprove of President George Bush's handling of Iraq, even before yesterday's devastating helicopter attack.

The poll was taken over last week, during which the mounting US casualties were denting the public's confidence in the Bush administration's grasp on events. The increasing cost of the occupation has further added to disillusionment.

The Washington Post-ABC poll released yesterday shows the number who approve of Mr Bush's handling at 47%, a fall of 28% percentage points on the end of April.

Those who disapproved had climbed to 51%, the first time the figure has broken 50 since the war began.

He has said we will stay the course in Iraq. Hopefully he won't say "Bring em on" any more!
