U.S. will seek $2.22 bln military aid for Israel
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N03209917.htm

WASHINGTON, Nov 3 (Reuters) - The United States will ask Congress to give Israel $2.22 billion in military assistance in the fiscal year 2005, $60 million more than in 2004, the U.S. State Department said in a statement on Monday.

The increase is in line with a 1990s agreement which reduces economic assistance to Israel by $120 million a year while adding $60 million a year to the military component of the package, the largest Washington gives to any country.

The statement, issued after talks in Israel last Wednesday and Thursday between senior U.S. and Israeli officials, said the Bush administration was committed to enhancing Israel's security and "maintaining Israel's qualitative edge over any combination of adversaries".

8. Well, good thing we don't give to the Palestinians.
Look at all the kids they kill. Especially their own.

Oh, I forgot. Israeli actions are unprovoked. Palestinians fine innocent victim people.

We should stop giving aid to Israel. Everyone in the world will feel much better when every Israeli is dead. They deserve it.

That is what you mean, isn't it?

14. No I just think we should not give them money for arms.
Let them spend their own money. And really more palestinians are killed over their than Israeli but I think they are both sort of stuped as this is getting them no place. It just goes on and on. Why not stop and if we did not help with arms that would help.

2. WTF?
Even the Israeli's are talking about not needing so many tanks (cos they've got so many they could kick anyones ass), and their economy is in the shitter thanks to the military/settlement spending underminding social programmes and Washington sends MORE military only cash? This is after doubling aid for the Arrow and laser programmes in Congress?

Israel is already the "strongest in the Middle East", thanks to the war in Iraq. I would have thought that was quite enough help.

How much fucking harder do they need to be? :eyes:

3. I've Got Mixed Feelings About This
We don't need to help in any instability in the region but Rothschild and others began buying land and pumping money into the reigon since the 1850's to legally reclaim their heritage and Israel hasn't failed to pay back the US on any loan so far.

The problem excabereted in 1948 when the remaining Jewish population in Europe left and the British tried to block immigration into the area.

Well, Israel isn't about to let another Hitler get away with the genocide they've experienced and if you think they're going to forget you have to remember that their written history goes back over 6000 years.

There's one mitigating influence and I'm surprised no one has seriously thought about it so far.

12. Israel has NEVER paid back a loan. What are you talking about?
The loans are always absolved by the Congress. They have never once paid back a loan.

Israel IS practicing genocide on a daily basis. The Israeli government is an evil force. And I'm NOT talking about Jews, I'm talking about a rogue government.

15. They Have Paid Back The Loans
"Foreigen Aid" is a different story when the money is spent within our own borders and when the additional money is alloted as "grants."

Don't overlook their interests; ours nor the only two other religious interests in the area that count for much...Islam and the Orthodox Church.

As an aside, the Orthodox Christian Church sheltered Mohammed once and kept their beliefs outside the reigon. The Orthodox Christian Church also springs from the origonal teachings of Christ (one step removed from Jusasim), isn't tainted by the Pope, Calvin or Dimbo so they share a lot of similar values.

Strictly my opinion of course....

5. For killing machines and toys?
Let's have 2.2 bil for peace.

Or 2.2 mil for peace and the rest for our own people.

Why killing machines and toys?

Why Israel? Why not Palestine?

Let's have a little fair and balanced.

And I'm not anti-semitic.

I'm pro-semites and European and African Jews
and every other country Israeli's came from.

The world is losing with the leaders of Israel
and the U.S.

Yes, fair and balanced. Peace is possible.

No more killling machines and toys.

11. So you're answer is to arm the Palestinians?
Figuring they can do more and better damage that way?

Honey, you can give them every dime in the world, but as long as they blow up whatever annoys them, they still won't have anything and they sure won't be happy.

But good luck.

13. You need to learn who's blowing up whom.
Both are doing damage but it is the Israelis who stole the Palestinian land and the Israelis who are constantly waging war against their neighbors on OUR dime.

16. The United States under PNAC and the wealthy
stole our focus...at least the focus of the little people. We can be and should be neutral. We are only hypocrites if we don't listen to the Palestinians and stop giving billions to Israelis.

We should do NOTHING to promote killing, but killing is all that PNAC and the wealthy support.

When a suplpressed people cry out and are not heard, they can't forget. They shouldn't forget.

Start with our own and extrapolate.

6. Think how many lives could be saved with $2 billion spent here?
Water shortages may make Africa more aid dependent

http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/L0163930.htm

NAIROBI, Nov 2 (Reuters) - Scientists warned on Sunday that growing water shortages across Africa could drive the continent into greater reliance on food aid over the next two decades.

Issuing their warning ahead of a water conference in Nairobi, experts said that by 2025 as many as 523 million people in Africa may be without access to clean water, while farmers would not have enough water for their crops.

The shortages in Africa are part of a global trend in increasing water consumption, but the increase in household water consumption on the continent will be proportionally the highest of any region in the world.

Africa will face a 23 percent shortfall in crop yields due to insufficient water supplies, while cereal imports will have to more than triple to 35 million tons in the next 23 years to keep pace with demand, increasing reliance on food aid, the experts said.
