Russia turns down Sharon requests

Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon faltered on Tuesday in an attempt to convince top Russian officials to drop their efforts to turn the Middle East peace "road map" into a binding United Nations resolution.

Israeli officials said that Sharon got only cautious understanding but no compliance during talks that included a
three-hour meeting on Monday with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin....

6. Now, why should the Israelis be against making this

Roadmap binding, when they claim they support it, and the reason it fails is because of the Palestinians? It seems like a perfect opportunity to highlight how aggressive and irrational the Palestinians are, and how the Israelis only want peace, but are thwarted over and over by Palestinian aggression.

If Israel really supported the Roadmap, doesn't it make sense that they would want it to be binding?
