WASHINGTON (AP) -- The economy is sizzling, but the real bacon -- new jobs -- isn't yet cooking. That could put President Bush closer to the frying pan as he campaigns for re-election next year.

Polls show Americans are worried about jobs, and many disapprove of the way Bush has handled the economy despite a robust rebound in the third quarter

October's employment report, to be released Friday, is expected to produce modest job growth for a second month, with gains of at least 50,000, economists say

2. right, beetwasher.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who looks at the figures and says, "???". They're inconsistent. Some leading indicators seem to be reallly pumped up, and others which should be 'running parallel' with these, so to speak, are not doing that.

I suspect tampering, or artificially inflating figures. Which ones were pumped up? Probably the departments that they got to, is my guess.

They didn't get to them all, that's for sure. Hence the discrepancy.

What jerks.
