By KEN GUGGENHEIM, Associated Press

WASHINGTON (November 4, 1:12 p.m. AST) - The chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee said Tuesday he spoke too hastily when he said the White House would provide his panel with the documents and interviews it is seeking for its inquiry on prewar intelligence on Iraq.
But the chairman, Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., said he is optimistic hat the committee will get everything it wants.

"There has been a willingness to provide a great many of the list (of materials) that we requested," he told reporters.

Also, Roberts and the panel's top Democrat, Sen. Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia, said the committee is unlikely to complete an interim report on the intelligence before Congress adjourns for the year late this month or in December. Public hearings probably also will be postponed until next year. (snip/...)

6. And this jerk sandbagged Rockefeller on Sunday talk
with the surprise news that the docs were forthcoming, to blunt Rockefeller's criticism. With unctuous Senator civility, apologizing for not telephoning him over the week-end with the "news".
