Information Suggests 3/25 Marines May Have Been Betrayed
Edited on Wed Jan-04-06 10:58 AM by jcv1
News reports of a local Marine battalion serving in Iraq show commanders knew there was an informer in the ranks who relayed info about a search party going to find insurgents who had killed snipers from the same unit two days before. Commanders may have advised this informer of the second group in order to confirm the identity of the informer. As a result, the entire group was killed by a car bomb.

2. So? You think Americans will care?

..or if they do, they won't remember it for more than a few days.

(Thanks for posting this, it just makes me so angry that probably nothing will happen.)

3. They need to quit using those goddamn piece of shit AAVs in
desert warfare.

They are nothing but aluminum cans with tracks. They break down more than you can imagine, have a top speed of about 28 on land and have ZERO effective gunning capabilities from the turret.

8. update
Done... and thanks for the welcome. This is just one more example of how wrongly this war was started and is being conducted. 2006 will be the year of truth, and if it isn't, shame on all of us....

9. I couldn't agree more...
I just read another article in LBN about
an entire family being killed by a US strike.
Among the dead, two children aged 9 and 11.

They MUST be stopped, these murderous
thugs who do these things in our names.

6. I remember Auggie Schroeder's death
And I also remember his father was very angry. Now I know why....

<snip>

"The two incidents of Aug. 1 and Aug. 3 are tied together, all in an effort to get insurgents who were either part of the Iraqi security forces or who were told by Iraqi security forces where they had their opportunities," said Schroeder.

The Marines will not discuss any of this, but Brown told NewsChannel5, "The fact these men were compromised is a part of the investigation."

Schroeder said, "The Marines I have talked to, which are many, believe the story of what really goes on in Iraq needs to be told in its entirety."

The Marines at the 3/25 have requested that the investigation report be declassified and released.

This could take weeks or possible several months. When it happens, the families of the fallen Marines will be the first to learn what it says, and then the report will be released to the public.

10. I just recommended this thread-
I want to see it on the front page of DU so all
the yellow ribbon magnet SUV drivers who lurk
at DU can see how their government is
supporting our troops.
This story has sent me into a rage.
Oh, the hyopocrisy and ignorance of
Bushbots.

11. on many levels I hope this is incorrect... very hard to live with
for the families of those lost and for those who would have been a part of the decision. The loss of life from the event is tragic enough for the families - to learn that it may have been not only preventable, but perhaps the chances of success for the bombers were increased due to the decisions within the military command - would be very painful for all.

12. Not to mention the question it raises-
How many other soldiers have been
sent out as cannon fodder bait?

19. Well, in one sense, all of them
They are completely expendable. People here -- and elsewhere -- seem to think it's otherwise. It's not.

13. one side's "betrayal" is the other side's "strategic planning..."
...as in "how can we lure the enemy into the kill zone?" Emotionally charged words like "informer" and "betrayal" seek only to hide who is really the enemy occupier in this situation, and who are the resistance fighters with a just cause.

14. Murtha and Pelosi are right. We're there to create an Islamic republic
and the law of unintended consequences is kicking in.

15. Nono, I think you may be wrong
about the "unintended" part.

The neocons want and in fact need perpetual war. What better way to do so than to create militant Islamic republics where none existed before, in the guise of "spreading democracy"?

The "failures" in the middle east are probably nothing of the kind. This is exactly what the neocons want.

16. But then exposing this Forbidden Truth would result in Imeachment
Since treason would be exposed ! DIA's Patrick Lang has spoken of Iranian intelligence's 'good work' on the Chalabi spying for them. If Bush and the neocons were deliberately USED by a foreign power to create an Islamic repubic in Iraq, THAT is something even more devastating than the Plamegate affair, which indeed may just be a ruse to take the bloodhounds off the real trail.

""He described it as "one of the most sophisticated and successful intelligence operations in history."

"I'm a spook. I appreciate good work. This was good work," he said.""
