GM's US sales fall 10.3 percent in December
General Motors Corp. on Wednesday said its U.S. sales fell 10.3 percent to 392,041 vehicles in December, as car sales dropped 19.4 percent and truck sales fell 4.9 percent.

GM results included its Saab brand and some medium and heavy-duty trucks.

GM, the world's largest automaker, said its first-quarter North American production forecast of 1.25 million vehicles, up 6 percent from a year earlier, remained unchanged.

1. Hope they've got plenty of parking lots for all that 2006 inventory.
Cuz it's not going to sell either.

2. What's really scary is that their car sales dropped so much
SUV and truck sales are to be expected, but posting double-digit drops in car sales as well is scary indeed. If they don't get a few high-mpg vehicles of good quality on the road soon, GM is done for.

3. I agree. I think even if they do snap into action,
it's too late.

And just imagine the Swedes, who sold their very successful car company SAAB to GM. I bet they are sweating right now.

The Swedes also sold Volvo to Ford a few years ago. The problem with that country is, this was their biggest export market. If both companies file for bankruptcy (which I believe they will), they're up Shit Creek. Because they're so much more dependent on this industry than we are.
