Ford to reveal downsizing plan on Jan. 23
Ford Motor Co. says it will reveal on Jan. 23 its turnaround plan that's expected to close plants and lay off tens of thousands of workers.

The carmaker, which also plans to release its fourth-quarter and 2005 full-year financial results that day, has refused to speculate on which plants it might close or how many jobs it will cut.

But, automotive experts have predicted Ford will close facilities in Wixom, Mich.; St. Louis; St. Paul, Minn.; Atlanta; and Cuautitlan, Mexico, the Detroit Free Press said. Ford already negotiated with the Canadian Auto Workers in 2005 to close a casting plant in Windsor, Ontario.

Between 1999 and 2004, Ford also eliminated 39,686 jobs worldwide, ending last year with 324,864 workers.

1. And many jobs will open in China, no doubt.
This won't help anyone out, since they don't pay the Chinese enough to buy the things - and fewer people at home can buy things.

The economy is going to crash soon. And the corporate elite will still find ways... to blame us. x(

Wealthy Stockhholders will be rewarded for the fact that less important low income workers are being laid off.

4. All workers will fit into a single Ford Excursion!
It'll save the company lots of money, since they all can ride to work together.

The only downside is that the commute is several thousand miles to the west. Better get Rev. Moon to build his bridge!

7. Look at that number
Ford currently has 324,864 employees. I'm willing to be they're going to Axe about 10% of their employees, about 32,860 employees.

GM just cut its labor force by 30,000 employees, so it's not unfeasible. It'll look great for the stock market! Wall Street will LOVE Ford for being "cost conscious". While 32,000+ families file for unemployment, get their houses ready to sell before the foreclosure hits.

I'm willing to bet on this one.

8. Maybe the CEO will go down and help work on the line.
He's paid the same as 200 workers. Imagine his productivity!
