Pace admits mistakes in training of Iraqi military

<snip>

General Pace spoke to AP Radio this week while flying back from a trip to the Persian Gulf, including Iraq.

Pace says the U.S. should have embedded small support teams of Americans with Iraqi battalions sooner than it did. Those eight-to-ten-member teams have the ability to call in airstrikes and medivac support and Pace says their presence has made a huge difference in the performance of the Iraqis.

Pace concedes training of the Iraqi police has lagged behind the military but he says it will be the top priority this year.

1. So the Iraqi military is working fine! As long as Americans are
in the unit.

3.  Rummy said they had trained 180,000 when it was really 5,000?
I am so glad we are finally training them to take over their own country.

4. but Gen. Petraeus was doing such a brilliant job!
on a daily basis for over a year we heard from the likes of McCaffrey that Petraeus was a GENIUS, the best of the best, doing a "superb job" training the military.

mistakes, now?

from this incredible genius? No!
