Cuban eye care programme to get upgrade
Thursday January 05 2006

The programme, which was developed by the Cuban government following discussions with regional heads of government including Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer, provides free eye examination and free medical treatment in Cuba.

The boosting of the healthcare system with the addition of specialised nurses and other healthcare professionals was also discussed.

The health minister further outlined that the Cuban government would give permission for several healthcare professionals from Antigua & Barbuda to travel to Cuba later this year to broaden their skills.

The minister also said the Cuban government was planning on establishing a diagnostic centre in Antigua & Barbuda, fully staffed by Cuban medical personnel, in order to provide referral specialist eye-care treatment to nationals.

Wonder how long it will take BushCo to start sanctioning and threatening Antigua & Barbuda again? (A couple of years ago Bolton and Noriega had threatened Antigua & Barbuda over prior deals and arrangements made with Cuba.)

4. It's great these small islands have people taking an interest in helping
them specifically, as their populations are really quite small, and their resources, as well. Cuba has done so much for a country with so little, after 45 years of crushing embargo, hasn't it?

Found another article, this one from 1998 concerning Cuba and Barbuda and Antigua:
Cuba strengthens ties with Antigua and Barbuda

HAVANA, Nov 19 (Reuters) - Cuba said on Thursday it was ready to send medical, technical and agricultural specialists to Antigua and Barbuda to strengthen ties between the two Caribbean island states.

The Cuban government's offer was contained in a general cooperation agreement signed in Havana on Thursday by Antigua and Barbuda's Prime Minister Lester Bird, who is on an official visit to the communist-ruled island.

Acting Foreign Minister Jorge Bolanos signed for Cuba.

Under the agreement, Cuba voiced willingness to send to Antigua and Barbuda Cuban experts in medicine, biotechnology, sports and agriculture, especially tobacco production. Details would be worked out in future accords.

Mika, looks like Otto Reich and Roger Noriega might just go after these two wayward island with a vengeance. How dare they accept much-needed help from their generous neighbor, eh?

It may be reason enough to invade them, using death squads, like Haiti, if these two power mad ghouls have their way.

Otto Reich, Roger Noriega
