Head of Federal Air Marshal Service resigns
Head of Federal Air Marshal Service resigns
Number of marshals expanded after 9/11 from 33 to ‘thousands’

WASHINGTON - The head of the Federal Air Marshal Service, Thomas Quinn, has resigned, effective Feb. 3, MSNBC.com has learned.

Quinn announced his plans in an internal agency e-mail late Thursday; he gave no reason for his resignation, or any indication of what he plans to do after leaving the agency.

"I am proud of the men and women of the FAMS and salute you for your dedication and performance in fulfilling our mission," Quinn, 59, says in the e-mail, obtained by MSNBC.com. "I leave knowing that the Federal Air Marshal Service is an effective, competent federal law enforcement organization that will continue to be an important contributor to the security of the homeland."

3. Thank You. I stole it from Pat Buchanan.
Actually, he referred to us as, "Soviet Canuckistanians".

Now, as this happened a few days after 9/11, the phrase kinda stuck in my mind.

5. No longer the polite....."spend more time with the family excuse"?

What would YOU do if you objected to something/some practice(s), that you couldn't/wouldn't particpate in. And you were in a 'high position'? How would you let 'other people know' without bringing down the whole d*mn system (and some chaos along with it).

What would you say if you thought the people under you were 'pretty much doing their jobs honorably/doing what they were asked to do' and you didn't want to 'leave them in the lurch', but still had to send a message?

That's my take on Mr. Quinn's action, but perhaps sometimes I mis-read (but then again, perhaps I don't).

6. That'll probably make a lot of air marshals smile ...
I've heard that quite a few absolutely can't stand the guy ... I'm sure they'll think that this is wonderful news.

(Then again, it'd be kind of hard for an outside source to do a poll of air marshals, now wouldn't it? So take that anecdotal evidence with a grain of salt)
