Santorum asks Bush for panel

Sen. Rick Santorum said in a letter to President Bush Thursday that there is a need to better assess and communicate the progress of military operations in Iraq toward what he calls "our laudable goal" of establishing a stable democracy in the Middle East.

"I strongly believe that the American people should hear objective and unbiased assessments of both military and civil operations ongoing in Iraq," the Penn Hills Republican wrote.

"With his in mind, I join others in Congress in calling for the creation of a commission or panel of experts to objectively and critically report to the American people on the progress being made in Iraq. Importantly, this panel should be forward looking -- focusing on what we as a nation must do to achieve success in Iraq."

6. Oh yeah, Santorum got his nose out of Bush/Cheney's asses long
enough to try to come up with ANYTHING productive. This man has stood and lied about taking his dead child home (never would happen) but we are suppose to believe he is a good, Christian family man. I cringe everytime I see this liar.

13. Can you even believe what Robertson said today about Prime
Minister Sharon. I mean the man is not even dead yet and this idiot claims God is punishing him because he is giving Jewish Homeland to the Palestinians.

Robertson needs a complete psychiatric evaluation.

These preachers anymore are unreal. It's as if they feel they can do and/or say anything to anyone. They honestly feel that the Republicans are in power due to their votes.

Well, I hope they are proud of their so-called Christians they voted into office and the corruption they obviously have been involved in.

Can't wait until Sunday and hear what drival Falwell has that will come out of his mouth.

There is a list out now about Democrats that took funds from Abramoff and not one did. It's an utter and complete lie; however, the Conservatives are good at their propaganda and they are getting it out there quick.

I say we do what a previous poster said earlier today. Back the proscecution of ANYONE involved with Abramoff, either Democrat or Republican. The same crime, the same punishment and possible time in jail.

That ought to tighten their sphincters a little bit more.

8. It is a CYA move
He is way behind in the polls in PA and is doing everything he can to look like he deserves to be re-elected. I firmly hope the people in this state are more intelligent than he give them credit of being.

11. Ummm... why is a panel of experts needed....?
... to do Bush's job *for* him? Isn't this statement by Santorum basically saying that Bush is failing at his job?

12. Not
according to the letters he sends in reply to the letters I send him. The all assert that Bush is doing a super human job of spreading hope and democracy around the world and is keeping us safe. This is a publicity stunt to shore up his losing poll numbers.

16. heh... just eight months ago, Sen Ricky thought he could
get the religious right vote up to the presidential nomination. Now he is lurching away as fast as he can - in order to attempt to get reelected at "home" (not his real home, which is VA, mind you).

he gets almost more entertaining by the day.

19. he's screwed.
don't worry about Santorum, Casey is going to mop the floor with him, his back-peddling into moderate status is going to harm him greatly with his base.

here's why: if lynn swann wins that nomination for governor, that's going to alienate lots of the racist idiots who live in the center of the state, leaving them at home and not willing to make the trip out to support someone who they feel has abandoned them.
