ISLAMABAD, JAN 6 (PTI)
Amidst strong US opposition to the Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) gas pipeline, Islamabad today said that the project was intact and there was no pressure on it to abandon it.
Pakistan is in dire need of energy for its growing economy and the gas pipeline programme is intact, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tasneem Aslam, said reacting to Senior US State Department official Steven Mann's remarks that Washington "absolutely" opposed pipelines involving Iran in view of differences with Tehran over its nuclear programme.
"We are not under any kind of pressure and we have to meet our energy requirements," Aslam told a private television channel here.
She said Pakistan is pursuing different options to meet its energy requirements and Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) gas pipeline is one of them.
