Rev. Jerry Falwell to rally for Alito


The Rev. Jerry Falwell will be in Philadelphia for a national broadcast Sunday in an attempt to rally conservatives on the eve of confirmation hearings for U.S. Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito.

And Falwell is saying that the confirmation process for Alito could be a bruising, bare-knuckled affair.

“This will bring out the worst from groups on the left,” Falwell said. “Leading the charge will be the National Organization of Women, the American Civil Liberties Union and American United for Separation of Church and State. Senators Clinton, Leahy, Schumer and Kennedy will be noisy on the subject.”

Falwell and several other conservative leaders hope to offset negative rhetoric about Alito in Sunday’s multimedia simulcast, which has been dubbed Justice Sunday III. The event will be carried on television, radio and the Internet.

“It will cover a great deal of the country,” Falwell said
