Time: Disgraced Congressman 'Wore a Wire' (Duke Cunningham)
Edited on Fri Jan-06-06 03:19 PM by RobertSeattle
Washington’s power players have always bragged about being well-wired, but for disgraced former congressman Duke Cunningham, “wired” wasn’t just a figure of speech. In a week when legislators are focused on the question of who else might be brought down by ex-lobbyist Jack Abramoff’s cooperation with prosecutors as he seeks lenient sentencing over his two federal guilty pleas this week,

sources tell TIME that ex-Rep. Cunningham wore a wire to help investigators gather evidence against others just before copping his own plea.

7. Oh my goodness! If only I had cornered the market on depends
along with all the available antacid drugs, rofl. There has to be some frantic re-thinking as to what various politicians said and when in concert to Cunningham.

9. Always wondered what else was happening on that - you don't let
the biggest fish cop a plea - you use someone with a plea deal to get more & bigger fish. Duke cops to $2.4 million in bribes - and he's the little fish? Holy shit!

10. Oh, this is rich! Freeper logic at it's best....

What I don't get is how this guy lived such an ostentatious lifestyle and nobody wondered how a congressman could afford those luxuries. Particularly in the days where the political parties put the opposition members under an electron microscope. The Dems should have discovered all this and ratted Cunningham out years ago.

So it's the Democrats fault?

But, now wait for the reply. Are you sitting down? Here it comes.

the problem is, the Dem voters don't really care about this kind of corruption - only our side does.

23. Here's the juicy part of the Time article:
TIME.com: Disgraced Congressman 'Wore a Wire'

(snip)
The identity of those with whom the San Diego congressman met while wearing the wire remains unclear, and is the source of furious — and nervous — speculation by congressional Republicans. A Cunningham lawyer, K. Lee Blalack, refused to confirm or deny the story, and wouldn't say whether Cunningham will implicate any other members of Congress. The FBI is believed to be continuing its probe of defense contractors involved in the Cunningham case.
