Congressmen endured mortar attack during visit to air base in Iraq
Rep. Kenny Hulshof wanted to see firsthand what American troops have to deal with on the ground in Iraq. But on a trip over the Christmas break, the Missouri Republican got more insight than he bargained for.

In a one-day stay in Iraq, the base that Hulshof and four other members of Congress were visiting was hit by a mortar attack. Hulshof and his colleagues were put on lockdown for 30 minutes while a series of five blasts hit the military installation, Balad Air Base, about 40 miles north of Baghdad.

"The sirens went off," Hulshof said. "There were multiple explosions." At the time, he was in a fortified dining center with Rep. Collin Peterson, D-Minn., and National Guard soldiers from Missouri and Minnesota.

Hulshof plays the drums and sings backup for the group, called the Second Amendments. He said that the soldiers seemed to appreciate their music but that perhaps the insurgents did not. "We figured Zarqawi didn't like our brand of rock 'n' roll," Hulshof joked, in a reference to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the al-Qaida-linked militant operating in Iraq.

1. One-day stay in Iraq ... OK, wimps.
"Sirens! Multiple explosions!" Boo-hoo! The troops live with it day-in, day-out. Like we did in the 'Nam. Oh, BTW, the troops can tell the difference between incoming and outgoing rounds. Can you, Mr. Second Amendment Rock-N-Roll drummer boy? I doubt it. A baby congressman in a war zone is worse than the greenest newbie. Know what I mean, Vern?

13. My "get a clue" comment was not directed at you
After I reread my post I realized I might easily be misconstrued and since I responded to your post I was directing my comments at you. I wasn't, I was directing them at the Congressman although I know he would never read them. Hope I didn't offend  Peace....

4. Wasn't this the same
Eye--rack that the Bush asskisser and perpetual Bush and Iraq war apologist Mr. Joementum Lieberman himself just visited and claimed was A-okay and everything was going oh-so-hunky-dory? Musta had on the Bush everything-is-always-rosy-and-don't-you-dare-tell-me-any-different-or-I'll-fire-your-ass glasses.

5.  "We figured Zarqawi didn't like our brand of rock 'n' roll," Hulshof
joked. Hardee, har, har! These repukes just crack me up. This is almost as funny as Chuckles the President visiting wounded soldiers and
comparing his head abrasion, caused by more of his stupid brush clearing, with wounds they received while fighting in Iraq.

9. The 2nd Amendments--Ha!
This is quadruple irony nested several layers deep. For one thing this is one of the biggest citizen dis-armament projects ever launched in the history of the world: Whole cities beseiged in barbed wire, shoot to kill checkpoints, continuous house to house searches for weapons and "military aged males," etc. For another, the 2nd Amendment is supposed to protect the people against the imperialistic pillaging and racketeering of a permanent military by allowing only a citizen's militia for defensive purposes.

In the name of the 2nd Amendment, these idiot republicans are rocking and rolling to a massive gun control project that not even Schumer and Boxer could stomach--all while ducking and covering from the shelling from a true citizen's militia. The next thing you know they're going to bus in the refugees from their tents back into the cities in front of their former houses where U.S. soldiers are quartered and have the 3rd Amendment chorus sing to them.

12. A 'Congressional rock band' ?!?
How has rock been allowed to become so watered down and filled with dorks? This never ceases to amaze me.

14. Oh, and then they could send over
the 8th Amendment orchestra to entertain the inmates at Abu Graib where the 5th Amendment rappers could do special appearances in the torture chambers: Its a new US Government war pig weapon of mass murder and psychological destruction: Kill 'em with irony.
