Attorney: $115,000 paid to DeLay's wife fair

An attorney for U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay on Monday said that $115,000 was a reasonable price to pay the congressman’s wife to determine favorite congressional charities and compile information on each one.

Christine DeLay was paid the money during a three-year period by the Alexander Strategy Group, a Washington lobbying firm that is now the object of a criminal probe.

Alexander Strategy Group was founded with help from — and did business with — lobbyist Jack Abramoff, who pleaded guilty last week to several felony charges, including conspiracy to bribe public officials.

Payments by Abramoff, his organizations and their clients to wives of congressmen and congressional aides are now being investigated as part of that probe.

2. Oh really?
And surely Mr. DeLay's attorney is prepared to hire Mrs. DeLay tomorrow for the same work and pay her the same wage, no?

Now, why would it be so important to find out each Congress critter's favorite charity, and then compile information on those charitites? Opposition research? "Democratic congressman X gives money to charity Y, which links to organization Z on its website. Organization Z is widely known to support terrorism, and their work is supported through congressman X's donations. Vote for the Republican sleazeball instead."

Nah, that can't be it. Ol' Hot Tub Tom hisself said just last week that he always and everywhere operates in the highest ethical fashion. Although, for a man whose job makes him on a first-name basis with cockroaches, it should be noted that his definition of ethical behavior might differ slightly from the usual and customary standards.

11. Fucking the bugman.
Making little bugchildren...their female bug offspring's "event planning" service also profited off of daddy bug's scandal.

Given the below info, hopefully the adult children of these crooks will be looked at also. I vaguely remember the Texas prosecuter wanting a subpoena for the cell phone records of someone's minor child..cuz it was used for a conversation about a potentially illegal activity. Nothing is too low for these scums, apparently, even hiding behind your children.

House Majority Leader Tom DeLay defended his family Wednesday, saying newspaper articles about his wife and daughter and about his trip to Russia were "seedy" efforts by the "liberal media" to humiliate him.

The New York Times reported Wednesday that DeLay's wife and daughter have been paid more than $500,000 since 2001 by DeLay's political action and campaign committees, according to a detailed review of disclosure statements filed with the Federal Election Commission and separate fund-raising records in Texas.

The Times said the payments to DeLay's wife, Christine DeLay, and his only child, Dani DeLay Ferro, were described in the disclosure forms as "fund-raising fees," "campaign management" or "payroll," with no additional details about how they earned the money.

According to a report on Wednesday by The New York Times, the wife and daughter of House Majority Leader Rep. Tom DeLay (R-TX) have received over $500,000 from DeLay’s political action/campaign committees since 2001.

In the documents uncovered, DeLay’s wife Christine and his daughter Dani DeLay-Ferro were paid for “fund raising fees,” “campaign management,” and “payroll” expenses. Nothing else was recorded that explained why they were paid the $500,000 amount.

DeLay’s committee however maintains their payment was justified. "Mrs. DeLay provides big picture, long-term strategic guidance and helps with personnel decisions. Ms. Ferro is a skilled and experienced professional event planner who assists Armpac in arranging and organizing individual events,” said his committee on Tuesday.

....asking them which charity and Google info on each, or just ASK the charity directly about themselves?
Pretty lame cover..but given that no one has questioned the chimp/Delay regime in the past, they could have given any bullshit description and gotten away with it. Much like how Scotty boy can get up to his podium and says "The prez has never been on the same continent as Abramoff" and the MSM falls for it.

Maybe this will wipe the smiles off of all those plastic faced repuke wives that we see on the TV. Way to stand by your men, ladies. You all can "do lunch" together in whatever women's prison you may get put in.

13. “She’s not a superficial person,”
says her attorney. Yeah right, sure sounds like it to me.:eyes:

From a previous article

She was paid $3,200 to $3,400 a month for three years, or about $115,000 total, he said.

"It wasn't like she did this 9 to 5, but it was an ongoing project," Cullen said, noting her work was commensurate with the project and had nothing to do with her husband or any official congressional business. "This was something that she found to be very interesting, very ... worthwhile."

I would find it worthwhile indeed!
