U.S. has no plan to attack Iran, spokesman says

www.chinaview.cn 2006-01-11 03:53:00

WASHINGTON, Jan. 10 (Xinhuanet)-- The United States said on Tuesday that it has no plan to attack Iran and remains committed to diplomacy over the Islamic republic's controversial nuclear program.

"The president (George W. Bush) made it pretty clear, he said previously that Iran is not Iraq," White House spokesman Scott McClellan told a news briefing.

"We're working with the international community to solve this in a peaceful and diplomatic manner, that's what we've been doing and continue to do," McClellan said.

McClellan made the remarks after Iran announced it had resumed sensitive atomic research.

Why stick your neck out when you can do it through a third country, then "come to the aid" of that country, entering side-ways, presenting yourself as a "protector?"

1. The U.S. had a plan in place to attack every single country in the world
Not all at once, but they're there. That's all the Pentagon does - draw up plans to invade anywhere.

So this statement is patently false.

2. No plans for Iraq attack, Bush says
Edited on Tue Jan-10-06 03:22 PM by EarlG
Friday, May 24, 2002

US PRESIDENT George Bush yesterday described Iraq’s Saddam Hussein and his destructive weapons as a threat to all civilisation and appealed to sceptical German leaders and lawmakers for help in waging a wider war on terrorism. However, Mr Bush said he has no plans to attack Iraq.

Many European leaders have expressed reservations — at best — about a wider war on terror, especially if it means attacking Iraq. As many as 20,000 street protesters demonstrated against Mr Bush’s policies as he arrived in Berlin Wednesday evening.

For his part, Mr Schroeder side-stepped a question over whether he would back a US-led assault on Baghdad to topple Saddam, despite expressing reservations in the past about such a plan.

"There are no concrete military plans for attacks on Iraq, so no reason for me to speculate," said Mr Schroeder, with Mr Bush at his side.

been there done that. Remember this from May 2002?....

"I have no war plans on my desk," Bush said at a Berlin news conference during the first stop of his European tour. "We've got to use all means at our disposal to deal with Saddam Hussein."

10. Interesting
when you read the article it doesn't ever say flat out that there is no 'plan' or that it is not an option.

Very misleading headline.

22. in other words, they fully plan to attack iran.
They may get israel to start it for them, but it's the bush administration that's really aiming for it, and we will be at war there.

a little pre-emptive strike should be easier with Sharon out of the way. He started talking peace-like, didn't he, before his little stroke? Robertson almost blew your cover, didn't he?
