Coaches' Deal Taints Record For Quarterback
Illinois Teen Wants Mark Erased

SPRINGFIELD, Ill., Nov. 5 -- Things looked bleak for the Southeast High Spartans that night, but for quarterback Nate Haasis there was still a chance at the conference's career passing record.
As he strode onto the field with less than a minute left on the clock, Haasis heard the coaches yelling to him: "This is for you, Nate!" The comment seemed strange, and after the snap, things got stranger.
Haasis faded back and completed his 37-yard pass, setting a new Central State Eight Conference record with 5,006 career yards. But no linebacker charged him. No defensive back tried to knock down the pass. </snip>
Read the rest of this story, basically, the kid asked for an asterix. It's so nice to see that there is someone standing up against these absurd 'deals' between coaches to pad the stats of individuals. This story renews my faith in high school athletes.
