WH Press Briefing: McClellan Call's Howard Dean's War Critique "Irresponsible"

NEW YORK In his latest statement on Iraq, President George W. Buch again charged that some of the critics of the war in Iraq were acting responsibly--and others, not. At his White House press briefing today, Press Secretary Scott McClellan fielded a number of questions trying to determine the difference, and possibly produce a few names on the irresponsible team.

After some prodding, McClellan finally identified the Democratic Party chairman, Howard Dean, as one of those on the president's bad side. "The Chairman of the party has made numerous irresponsible comments," McClellan said.

...

MR. McCLELLAN: We can point to a number of people. I think the Chairman of the Democratic Party has made numerous statements that are --

Q Who else is part of --

Q Why did he go in then?

MR. McCLELLAN: The Chairman of the party has made numerous irresponsible comments. We have confronted these issues head on, and we will continue to take them on. You might want to back us down from challenging people, but when they make irresponsible comments, we're going to challenge them.

20. IRRESPONSIBLE--I'll show you IRRESPONSIBLE
Going into a war of choice without a plan of what to do once your clearly superior troops route what little organized forces the enemy has and you are in "control" of a country inhabited by people who have hated each other for hundreds if not thousand of years is IRRESPONSIBLE.

Firing or sidelining experienced generals and intelligence officers who tell you you will need far more troops in order to deal with the insurgency they know is coming and insisting on going to war with a limited force because your Secretary of Defense (who has never spent a day in uniform or heard a shot fired in anger himself) wants to test his military theories is IRRESPONSIBLE.

Failing to take into account intelligence reports which indicate that your frightening estimates of your enemy's WMD stockpiles and programs may be a load of horseshit and that the Iraqi's who are your favored sources are a pack of liars is IRRESPONSIBLE.

Not providing adequate armor or armored vehicles for your troops is irresponsible.

Failing to secure ammunition dumps as your troops race to their big photo-op in Baghdad is IRRESPONSIBLE.

Funneling reconstruction contracts to politically connected companies--can you spell H-A-L-L-I-B-U-R-T-O-N--and then allowing them to rob us blind is IRRESPONSIBLE.

There is more--so much more--but unfortunately I have to get ready for work so maybe some others can help me out here.

21. When McClellen walked away from the podium yesterday,
the faces of the journalist we're shown on tv. A picture is worth a thousand words.

The last thing McClellen said before he wrapped it up was, "the White House is looking for a good honest debate with the Democratic leaders" - Referring to the Iraq war and the economy.

I swear, that Scotty looked exactly like a pig trying to smile yesterday.

23. So that's Scotty's new word of the week, is it?
Is is going to replace his and W's most recent overused phrase, "I reject that"?

Whatever, if irresponsible = speaking the truth, then call me irresponsible. And Howard Dean too.
